Spy Tech, Class Eight (03/07)

Once the students are seated, M indicates the absence list projected on the wall, and then immediately moves on to the lecture.

UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
BARBARA GORDON (CLASS SEVEN)

LECTURE: "Today we'll begin our unit on disguise, by discussing two technologies used to create simple and subtle disguises. It's easy enough to wear a wig or colored contacts to make very basic changes to your appearance, but there are times when you need to be more convincing, when you need to be able to fool someone who's actively investigating your identity. Santos and Blank are passing around two items to each of you. The first is a fingerprint kit. Not for taking fingerprints, but for creating false ones. The kits will copy the fingerprint of someone else, and produce fine latex replicas that you wear over your own fingers. The fakes don't have a very long lifespan, but they're quite useful when you know you're going into a situation where you've got to maintain a false identity as another person.

"The second item is a voice changer. Just as the fingerprint kit copies someone else's fingerprints, this item copies a person's voice-print, and then alters your own voice to match it. Again, it isn't something you'd want to use long-term, but it can be very useful when you need an extremely convincing disguise, or for use in telephone communications."

CLASS ACTIVITY: "Today, I want you to use the remainder of the class period to practice with the fingerprint kit. Pair up and take the prints of one of your classmates and create fakes for yourself, and then use the fingerprint testing materials in the box on my desk to take and test latent fingerprints, so that you can demonstrate for yourselves how they work."

ASSIGNMENT: "Your assignment for next week is to take home one of the voice changers. Copy someone's voice, and then use the voice changer to disguise yourself as that person. I expect all of these to be returned next week, and if I find out that any of you have used the voice changer to cause trouble or to get someone else in trouble, you'll have detention and an F for the assignment. Next week, we'll meet in the Danger Shop."

Ooooh, that white stuff really stood out against his red face. Kind of pretty. In a globbish, drooping sort of way.

But what the?

Her eyebrows shot up and she might have twittered in her chair a little, "You don't say?" Oh my god the thoughts that were running through her mind. "Anyone? I mean like do you uh..." Her eyes focused on that glob. "Oh."

"Annette," Anders said pleadingly, "do you really want to know? He was already starting to shift uncomfortably from one foot to the other, and mentally damning first period classes and people who didn't have them and could sleep in, or not so much sleep as do other things in bed while he had to be in class and privy to the whole damn thing, and oh gods he was even mentally flailing in grammar-challenged run-on sentences . . .

She thought, which didn't take long. "I'll think of it as a tutorial." She nodded and added, "I do like learning new things."

~~"Well, see, Annette... when a demon and a witch love each other very much, and a jock has slept with both of them . . ."~~

Okay, there was going to be some serious need for sitting down here, now. Damn Bel and his stupid demonic stamina. Anders quickly grabbed his chair and his backpack, plunking down in the first and putting the second on his lap. "Well, no. It's not just anyone. Just, um, a very specific someone. Who is getting it on as we speak." He coughed and fidgeted. "And the timing on that is really bad, because I am so not giving a hands-on demonstration in front of M, even though, um, let's just say it would be completely possible right now."

Annette held herself very very still, listening intently. Her right eye-lid fluttered briefly though as she sort of gave a downward glance at his lap. Ah, the backpack. Ingenious.

"So right now, two people are, you know, and you are feeling it. Wow. But what if it was bad and you didn't want to feel that cause it wasn't a good sort of bad, would you still, you know..." She deliberately looked down at his lap now, raising both brows in question.

"And by demonstration, you mean what exactly?"

(ooc: squee!)

Anders squeezed his eyes shut as his face (and probably other parts of him, but let's not go into that) turned an even more brilliant shade of red. "I. Am. So. Frakking. Going. To. Kill. Them," he gritted out, too completely distracted to even remember what her question had been. "Lords, you two! Some of us have morning classes!"

Her eyes lit up, "Oh my god! What the crap are they doing now?"

(ooc/ic: Which Annette totally awww'ed over.)

Anders buried his face in his hands and took several deep breaths -- it wasn't his fault if it sounded more like panting! "Being very, um . . . educational."

Annette was hardly educated in this sort of stuff. It would help to know these things wouldn't it? But, uh, it looks as though Anders could use a few moments to himself.

She leaned over and whispered to him, "If you need to leave, I'll tell M you had to use the bathroom." She nodded. "Cause it would not really be lying. Right?"

Anders considered his desperate need for a cold shower. "It would be the complete truth," he said sheepishly.

But oh man, if Annette didn't take a step back really soon, she'd end up getting the same treatment as Wyatt's hand had, the other night.

She smiled and touched his shoulder, "I know." I think "And it's okay, really." She continued to speak softly. "I mean, geeze, if I was in your shoes, well, I'm not sure what I would do...but you seem to have everything under control. There is no harm in a little bathroom break."

Oh, lords. Anders tried. He really did. But he couldn't stop himself from leaning his head toward Annette's hand, intent on attempted nuzzling, or something.

...and it was cute, that nuzzle. She even smiled and turned her hand up to cup his cheek.

Anders was all but purring as he leaned into Annette's hand, grinning despite himself as he weakly protested, "This might not be a good idea in the middle of class . . ."

"M's older. She probably doesn't view affection like we do. Most likely she would just glower or grunt and not blink a single eye-lid. Personally I think she needs to let her hair grow."

Annette tilted her head, "Um, feeling less...pressure yet?" She had to ask, as a friend. She did care for his well-being and all.

Anders shook his head. "Nuh uh, I think it's just getting . . . um, more . . . uh, pressure-y." He might, at this point, be attempting to start cuddling her arm.

[OOC: *facepalm* *smites cut and paste*]

Cuddling her arm was fine. She did wonder about the more pressure-y part. "Anders," she leaned closer and whisper. "I don't want you to hurt yourself or anything, you know, explode or something."

(ooc: *smites it for you too, and shakes fist!*

Anders made a slight whimpering noise and jumped to his feet, one hand holding the backpack, which made things a little difficult as the rest of him was attempting to full-on glomp Annette. "Oh, that's gonna happen really soon now . . . like . . . oh, frak, Annette, I gotta go . . ."

"Yeah, go ahead." She waved her hand and smiled. "Hope I helped a little bit." Annette might not have had a total clue. "Becareful too, cause when you're in a hurry, you could accidentally hurt yourself or something. See ya!"

Anders gave Annette a tiny, wobbly little smile, nodded -- and compelled by the stupid psychic bond, leaned over and tried to kiss her before bolting.

Poor guy. Annette couldn't help but feel for him, and his little smile was endearing. She smiled and was completely taken aback when he leaned over to kiss her. "Whatareyoudoing?" She knew, but still...

"I don't know," Anders admitted. "It's not me, it's just . . . what I'm picking up on, makes me wanna . . . yeah."

It was a pretty good kiss, though.

Ooh dear heavens! Annette was so going to stop him from kissing her. She was sort of working her way up to full crush status for Dick. But Anders was there and he took her mouth and...

It was a great kiss. Annette kind of instantly got lost in it. She wrapped her arm around his neck and tried to pull him harder against her mouth.

Yeah, she just wasn't herself at all.
