Ethics [Monday, March 5, 5th period]

When the students entered the Ethics class, there was no sign of their normal instructor.

Instead a young man with a livid scar down his right eye wearing a dark cloak was leaning against the desk.

He looked at each of the students. "I am Anakin Skywalker. I'll be the Ethics instructor for the remainder of the semester. Darth Vader is gone."

He rustled through some papers. "I understand he had put you into pairs to learn to exploit each other." His eyes narrowed. "I don't work that way. Instead, please tell me what you learned about your partner--if anything--and how you would overcome individual weaknesses in order to become a more cohesive team."

He pointed at a student at random. "We will begin with you."

Silly Anakin actually thought that there might not be any questions about the change in teachers.

"How would you try to soften such mannerisms?" Anakin asked. "To get your partner to take himself less seriously?"

"I was thinking 'dump a pie on his head' but somehow I doubt that will go over well."

"Generally speaking, getting killed tends to end the partnership," Anakin told him dryly. "Any other thoughts?"

"That, and it's a waste of pie." Marco said with a straight face. "I have no idea how you give someone a sense of humor. Patiently sit with them an explain 'This is a joke. Now you laugh.'"

Anakin didn't smile, but his eyes were amused. "With diagrams, maybe?" he asked.

Marco nodded. "And a couple flow-chards frown in just for fun. Definetly need examples."

"Not too many, though," Anakin cautioned. "Those without a sense of humor tend to also have short tempers."

Marco considered this. "I'm not short tempered."

"It's either that or crying, and I'm too pretty to have a nervous breakdown."

"Is that what decides it?" Anakin asked dryly. "Good to know."
