Ethics [Monday, March 5, 5th period]

When the students entered the Ethics class, there was no sign of their normal instructor.

Instead a young man with a livid scar down his right eye wearing a dark cloak was leaning against the desk.

He looked at each of the students. "I am Anakin Skywalker. I'll be the Ethics instructor for the remainder of the semester. Darth Vader is gone."

He rustled through some papers. "I understand he had put you into pairs to learn to exploit each other." His eyes narrowed. "I don't work that way. Instead, please tell me what you learned about your partner--if anything--and how you would overcome individual weaknesses in order to become a more cohesive team."

He pointed at a student at random. "We will begin with you."

Silly Anakin actually thought that there might not be any questions about the change in teachers.

"You found that openness surprising?" Anakin asked. "Was it something you could compensate for if the partnership would have lasted more long-term?"

"I find most people's openness surprising," Irulan said, "In time, I suppose."

Anakin nodded slowly. "This planet does tend to broadcast their feelings rather loudly," he said.

"It's quite astonishing," Irulan agreed.

Anakin nodded. "Your homeworld was...more political," he guessed.

"It is hard not to be, since my homeworld is the Imperial Capital. This world is... refreshing in its way."

Anakin made a face. "I spent decades on our capital planet. The lies within lies, the intrigues, the petty squabbles...I hated it."

"It can be wearying," she agreed, "Unfortunately, I have to get used it since I am the heir."

"My deepest condolences," Anakin said. He started to move away, then thought better of it. "Make sure your advisers are people you can trust absolutely," he said quietly. "Get rid of them immediately -- and completely -- when they aren't."

He seemed to be speaking from experience, Irulan nodded. "I shall do so. I have been... reorganizing my options since I have been here, thank you for the advice."

"I was married to a Senator," Anakin said softly, pain springing into his eyes. "I picked more up than I wanted to."

He turned and walked away.

Irulan nodded and watched him, he certainly was different from Darth Vader.
