Ethics [Monday, March 5, 5th period]

When the students entered the Ethics class, there was no sign of their normal instructor.

Instead a young man with a livid scar down his right eye wearing a dark cloak was leaning against the desk.

He looked at each of the students. "I am Anakin Skywalker. I'll be the Ethics instructor for the remainder of the semester. Darth Vader is gone."

He rustled through some papers. "I understand he had put you into pairs to learn to exploit each other." His eyes narrowed. "I don't work that way. Instead, please tell me what you learned about your partner--if anything--and how you would overcome individual weaknesses in order to become a more cohesive team."

He pointed at a student at random. "We will begin with you."

Silly Anakin actually thought that there might not be any questions about the change in teachers.

I can't imagine why anyone would be wanting to do that...

Valentine shimmied up to the new teacher, tapping two fingers together anxiously.
"Whatever happened to the old teacher, if you don't mind my asking? I actually rather quite liked him."

"He died," Anakin said shortly. "Electrocution."

"Ah, well then...." Valentine stared in horror for all of a moment before he shrugged and grinned. "You'll do."

Anakin inclined his head. "Glad to have met your approval," he said dryly.

If Anakin turned away for even a moment, the next moment he turned back, Schrodinger was starting intently at him, his face only a few inches away from Anakin's.

"Is there something I can assist you with?" Anakin asked sharply.

"I was under the impression that you were dead," Schrodinger said.

"I got over it," Anakin replied.

"It's easier to do than most people think," Schrodinger responded. He took a step back. "Where's Darth?"

"Dead," Anakin replied. "He and his master both."

"Ah. Well, maybe he'll get over it as well."

Anakin smirked. "Not without clones," he said, "and I took care of that little detail."

"Oh, so you're a clone, then?"

Anakin wasn't about to give Schrodinger any potentially useful information if he could help it.

"I'm time displaced," he said instead. "My son brought be back to take out Vader and Palpatine."

Turtle's arms crossed over her chest as she approached Anakin. "So you're just a temporary substitute, right? He just went to...I don't know, go be all threatening in space for a little bit, right?"

"He was...threatening in space," Anakin said. "Then he died for it. He will not be returning."

"...Died?" Finally, the hard expression Turtle had been wearing all through class softened a bit, into a worried frown. "Really?"

...She always knew that jerk was mostly talk, getting himself killed like that.

"Really," Anakin said, his expression unchanged. "Were you...friends?"

It seemed a strange question to ask.

Turlte snorted. "Couldn't stand the guy. But he was supposed to be my mentor and...well.." She drew in a breath, poked at the floor with the tip of her shoe, "I was just starting to kind of feel okay with that and that I could actually learn something from him, and then he goes off and gets himself killed in space. Typical."

"Principal Washburn asked me to take over his mentoring duties, too," Anakin said, looking at her. "But if you'd be more comfortable with a different instructor, I understand."

Turtle grunted a little. "I could handle Vader, I'm sure I could handle you. It's just, y'know, I was kind of getting used to the idea of actually learning something from my mentor..."

"And you believe I cannot teach you?" Anakin asked, looking curious.

He blinked. "What exactly were you hoping to learn from Vader?"

That dead look from Turtle was back again. If this guy honestly think she'd be willing to give him even so much as an inch without really even proving anything to her, he had another thought coming, that was for sure. "I'll believe it," she said, "when I see it."

"And I don't really think it was something that Vader was really aware he was going to teach me, but I was determined to crack that mask of his. I think to think I was getting closer. But now all my work is ruined because he had to go and get himself killed. I'm not surprised, really. He was just asking for it..."

But she did so hate to have a project be cut off right when it was starting to get good.

Anakin smirked. "You were trying to get to the secret music lover inside of him or something? Good luck."

Anakin? Being an arrogant ass? Shocking.

Except not really.
