Spy Tech, Class Seven (02/21)

Wednesday, February 21, First Period

Once the class was assembled, M asked Nadia and Marty to come forward.

"Your homework assignment was to write an essay on possible uses for the wristwatch. There are a number of applications that have already been used -- communicators, explosives, tracking devices. Santos and Blank will demonstrate a somewhat unusual item that was developed some years ago for my own agency."

After the demonstration was completed, M turned to the class.

"For discussion today, I want you to use the essay you wrote for your homework, and discuss how one might turn an ordinary wristwatch into a piece of specialty spy equipment. Convince me and one another that your plan could work. Before you leave today, remember to turn in your essay."

HOMEWORK: "Next week there will be no class, so I hesitate to bother giving you an assignment today. Instead, I will inform you that we will be meeting in the Danger Shop the following week, to begin our lesson on disguise."

[ooc: Marty modded today with permission. Please wait for OCD is up, you may begin.]

Nadia and Marty modded with permission did a whole silent presentation thing with this one. Nadia showed off the magnet first by switching it on and having it lift metal objects of various sizes, and then by turning up the juice and sending whatever loose metal objects the other players want might be within range flying towards her.

This part involved a fair amount of the two TAs ducking behind the desk to avoid getting accidentally mutilated by the flying objects.

[ooc: feel free to ping in with whatever metal objects might go winging off your player at Nadia's wrist.]

Annette was watching intently and was taken by surprise when the two pens and a number of paperclips laying on her desk suddenly flew forward, towards Nadia.

Anders yelped as his metal yo-yo, the stylus from his Palm Pilot, his set of lockpicks, and his wirebound notebook went flying.

Broots nearly fell off of his chair when his keys, random tangle of something vaguely metalic and wirey, and a handful of paperclips went flying.

"Ow, damnit," Parker said, as her earrings tried to zing across the room. She took them off to stop them tugging, and immediately lost them to the magnet. "Duck!"

"The frak?!" D cried out as her favorite bracelet (http://pics.livejournal.com/dbiers/pic/00004b1t/) went flying toward the watch.

That's what she gets for not paying attention.

For the second part of the demonstration, Nadia handed Marty still modded with permission the watch, then picked up some rope and, once he had the watch on properly, tying him to the chair.

Then she stood back with a bemused smirk as she watched him cut himself free using the saw attachment.

Once this was done, they both turned to the class. "Any questions?"

"Um, yeah. Definitely." Nadia gathered up all the metal stuff that had flown at her and held it out.

"Thanks." D gave her a half smile and retrieved her bracelet. "I'd really hate to lose it."

"...yeah?" D said, "unless Buffy mysteriously changed the dates on us without letting anyone know?"

Well, crap.

"I, um, I guess I forgot. And I've got this other thing I'm dealing with . . . I don't know if I can go."
