Spy Tech, Class Seven (02/21)

Wednesday, February 21, First Period

Once the class was assembled, M asked Nadia and Marty to come forward.

"Your homework assignment was to write an essay on possible uses for the wristwatch. There are a number of applications that have already been used -- communicators, explosives, tracking devices. Santos and Blank will demonstrate a somewhat unusual item that was developed some years ago for my own agency."

After the demonstration was completed, M turned to the class.

"For discussion today, I want you to use the essay you wrote for your homework, and discuss how one might turn an ordinary wristwatch into a piece of specialty spy equipment. Convince me and one another that your plan could work. Before you leave today, remember to turn in your essay."

HOMEWORK: "Next week there will be no class, so I hesitate to bother giving you an assignment today. Instead, I will inform you that we will be meeting in the Danger Shop the following week, to begin our lesson on disguise."

[ooc: Marty modded today with permission. Please wait for OCD is up, you may begin.]

Setsuna's essay, of course, included the more conventional uses of communication and tracking, but there was also a section (which probably took up more than it should have) about time travel. One couldn't deny that time travel was very helpful to spying, if done properly.

Mac turned in a neat and detailed essay detailing various uses for a wristwatch including how it could be converted giving the wearer the ability block other electronic signals in an area.

Nadia and Marty modded with permission did a whole silent presentation thing with this one. Nadia showed off the magnet first by switching it on and having it lift metal objects of various sizes, and then by turning up the juice and sending whatever loose metal objects the other players want might be within range flying towards her.

This part involved a fair amount of the two TAs ducking behind the desk to avoid getting accidentally mutilated by the flying objects.

[ooc: feel free to ping in with whatever metal objects might go winging off your player at Nadia's wrist.]

For the second part of the demonstration, Nadia handed Marty still modded with permission the watch, then picked up some rope and, once he had the watch on properly, tying him to the chair.

Then she stood back with a bemused smirk as she watched him cut himself free using the saw attachment.

Once this was done, they both turned to the class. "Any questions?"

Nadia was there to be talked to. She did look just a bit distracted, though.

Annette was watching intently and was taken by surprise when the two pens and a number of paperclips laying on her desk suddenly flew forward, towards Nadia.

Her essay was thorough and neatly written, expanding on the specifics of how a wristwatch could be a highly detailed, sensitized piece of equipment, used primarily for recording sound in situations where it was hard to detect. At the same time being able to take high quality digital images, thus saving sound and pictures to a specialized mircochip in the watch.

Annette expounded on her idea giving a number of possible scenarious and various situations where such a wristwatch could work in the field of espionage.

Anders yelped as his metal yo-yo, the stylus from his Palm Pilot, his set of lockpicks, and his wirebound notebook went flying.

Anders's essay was a little better than the mediocrity of last week, although it was obvious he was still not at his best. It was kind of a halfway interesting, if not very well developed, theory about using a watch as kind of a universal remote that could do things like override elevator control panels and parking security gates.

Anders was here. He was slumped in his seat, his chin propped up on his hands and his expression half vacant, but he was here.

In the flesh, at least.
