Ethics [Monday, February 19, 5th period]

Vader stomped into the classroom, slamming the door so hard behind him that it cracked across the middle.

"Today I will give you your midterm assignment," he snapped, cloak swirling around him as he paced. Well, half of a raggedy cloak. If it looked like it had been cut up by a child...yeah.

"The master-apprentice system of education has long been traditional in my galaxy. The Jedi used it--" his tone was laced with scorn as his helmet swiveled, looking at various students, "and my own Sith still use it. We will be following in the Sith tradition."

He pulled a piece of paper from his desk. "I have paired you up into master and apprentice teams. Throughout the coming weeks, you will work together. Masters, your goal is to train your apprentices to a level of usefulness in a skill of your choice. Apprentices, your goal is to become better than your master at that skill and ultimately become the master. You must provide a united front to the rest of the world while seeking to undermine each other at every turn. Next class--which is after the midterm break, how fortunate for you--you will report to me about the weaknesses and strengths of your partner and how you would hypothetically use them to gain the upper hand in your relationship."

And if Vader sounded a bit bitter about this particular arrangement, well, he was.

"I have heard about the master-slave exercise in the Ethics classes last year," he growled, voice heavy with menace. "This is a completely different concept and anyone who tries to turn this into non-hypothetical exploitation will be answering to me personally. You will be wishing for detention when I am finished with you." He made sure to look at every student as he said that. There would be no misinterpretation of his intentions in this.

He turned his attention to the paper in his gloved right hand. "Listen for your names. I will only be saying them once."

Valentine grinned and shrugged. "I'm a performer. I'm always looking for something that will attract an audience. People like cats. People like big cats. People like seeing when other people have control of big cats. Lion taming would draw a crowd."

"Yeah, draw a crowd to watch the hippie get eaten." Blair muttered and shrugged. "All right, lion taming it is. Since it'll probably take me a couple of days to track down a lion...how about we meet on a day this week that works out for both our muns which could either be Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday?"

Valentine seemed rather pleased with this. "Day of the week it is, then!" He continued to grin. "It should be easy enough. I could have chosen something dangerous, like tightrope walking... or encyclopedia wrestling."


(ooc: I work evenings for the remainder of the month, thus slowplay is my thing, so any of those days is fine with me so long as you don't mind that wee bit of a snag. If we settle on a day, then heck, I can be awake earlier on in the day to get a good start on our lion-taming endeavors without dipping too deeply into the fountain of slowplay.)

"I'm glad you went with something...safe then." Blair said, wide eyed. "I'll see you Thursday then!"

Valentine was all about pressing to see how far he could go before Blair said no, now.
"On second thought," he mused, "Thursday isn't so good for me. How's... Wednesday, instead? And you bring the food?"

(... and then the mun remembered that Valentine has three classes, a P.R.A.T.S. meeting, and will be involved in a plot that might potentially have him nowhere around the school for Thursday. I'm so sorry for forgetting!)

"Wednesday is fine." Blair said and smiled. "I can do that. Anything in particular you want?"

Oh, this was just too fantastic! "Popcorn, perhaps. Or maybe some chicken. Popcorn chicken? With little hats." The grin on his face made it clear that he was joking. Mostly. Maybe.

"Popcorn chicken have hats?" Blair asked, not really sure if he was joking. He did drag out a notebook to scribble down what Valentine wanted to eat.

"Oh, of course," Valentine said with a smirk. "Well, maybe not hats. Maybe little umbrellas. You know. Cocktail umbrellas. Once for each piece?"
It was taking everything in Valentine's power not to crack up then and there.

Blair wasn't completely dense, but he nodded. He was pretty sure that he could make the master/apprentice relationship a mutually healthy and beneficial relationship if he tried. "I'll see what I can do, man."

Valentine grinned and gave Blair a thumbs-up. So far as he was concerned, it was already working quite beneficially.
