Library [02/13]

Sam came to open the library armed with tea instead of his usual coffee. For once, he was more concerned about staying warm than staying awake.

Unfortunately, the tea seemed to be taking longer to kick in. He wasn't sleeping, he was meditating. Really.

Feeling slightly more awake, Sam went through his list of Valentine's Day gifts to make sure he had everything he needed.

Searching the internet for extra backup gifts for Dawn couldn't hurt though.

Searching the internet in case his dad flaked out and didn't get anything for Zoe couldn't hurt either.

The library was closed for lunch, to everyone except aides and the librarian.

Thinking about his dad and Zoe reminded Sam that he wanted to do some more online pregnancy research. That lasted about as long as it took him to get hit with the headline, "The Real Scoop on Pregnancy Sex."

Sam was in the back, shelving safe, clean books that wouldn't make him think about his dad doing dirty things.

Sam made a few final sweeps through the library to make sure everything was clean and tidy before closing up.

All done!

Peter came in after his Superheroing class. "Sam!"

That was probably said a wee bit too loud for a library, but Peter was excited.

"Hey," Sam said, grinning contagiously at Peter's enthusiasm. "You sound like you're in a good mood."

"Man you are never going to guess what I found out!" Peter slapped his hands down on the front desk as though to punctuate what he was saying.

"Uh, you were adopted and you're really foreign royalty?" Sam guessed.

"No, but at this point I'd believe it," Peter said. "I have a power."

"Did you fly again?"

"No," Peter admitted. "I shrunk. I also got naked on the stairwell but that was more of an offshoot."

"So, you can change size?" Sam asked. "And lose your clothes at will?"

"Sort of," Peter said. "I copy other people's powers when I'm near them. That's why I thought I was going crazy. I was doing things I didn't even know could be done!"

After Revolutions, Parker decided to check on something that had been bugging her since Friday.

"Hey, Sam." She leaned onto the counter, cocking her head as she studied him.

Sam's eyes widened a little in awe. "Seriously? That's awesome. Has that been happening since you got here?"

"I guess?" Peter said. "The dreams were before I got here, so maybe I do that on my own? But the flying - I knew that happened! I knew it!"

"Oh, hey Parker," Sam replied, trying not to feel intimidated by the way she was looking at him. "Can I help you with something?"

"From what I've heard, you already did." Parker raised her eyebrows. "Blair mentioned you guys did an exorcism on him, before we took off on our trip on Friday. After he hugged me and said he never, ever wanted to fight me."

"You must have been around somebody else who can fly," Sam said. "That's really...wow."

For some reason Peter found himself not wanting to admit that it had been Nathan. "Uh... yeah, exactly! And then when I was with Cassie I shrunk down. Haven't been able to do it since, though. I've tried."
