Library - 2/7

Isabel walked into the library and immediately found herself surrounded by every chair in the room. All looking for attention. Rolling her eyes, she made her way to the main counter and sat up on it, out of reach while she finished her coffee.

It was going to be one of those kind of days.

"Chris and Wyatt didn't hold out much hope either. But I still have to look for myself." Isabel filed the note away and pulled out two pairs of dragonskin gloves, handing a pair over to Dawn. "Here, put these on. It'll help keep any book specific weirdness from getting us."

Dawn pulled the gloves on without question, pretending to herself that the gloves had come from very, very old dragons that had died while sleeping in the magic dragon preserve. "If the gloves are good, why don't we have suits? Or hoods?" She pulled her gloves off again, then tied her hair into a knot at the back of her head. Less to grab onto.

"Well we're not actually going near the books that attack. And as long as you don't plan on falling asleep on anything, the gloves should take care of the majority of your exposed skin," Isabel explained. She left a note on the desk saying Ring Bell For Service then headed for the door to Special Collections.

Dawn followed Isabel. "I feel like I need a miner's hat. Like with the light on the hardhat?"

"Nay, it's actually pretty bright," Isabel said as the walked through the door. "Of course if the lights go out? Get the hell out of here fast."

"So, anything else to worry about, other than sudden darkness?" Dawn asked, still letting Isabel take the lead.

"No, we should be okay. The magical books are right over here and this area is generally fairly mellow. It's when you start wandering farther back that things start to get odd." She pointed down the seemingly endless hall, lined with books, then approached the magical histories. "Well, I guess we can start looking."

"Can I move in?" Dawn asked, turning in a little circle, her mouth open. "Seriously, just tell Sam where I am. He'll understand."

"You'd give up living with your ever so pretty boyfriend for this?" Isabel asked, amazed.

Isabel had a point. "Maybe he could move in with me?"

Isabel looked at the wooden table and chairs they usually researched things at. "I don't know. This place is a little lacking in the creature comforts. Personally I prefer my bed." As she spoke, she pulled various books off the shelf. "Why don't we take these to the table and look them over. Maybe we'll get lucky."

Dawn grabbed a couple of other books, then took a thick one from Isabel's stack. "Oof. Sounds good. I haven't had a good research session in a while."

"Technically? This is my third one in eight days. I was doing more of the same last Wednesday. Friday we were researching the Shadows and now I'm back here again. Hopefully this time we'll find something."

Isabel sat quietly paging through the books before eventually looking up. "Is it getting warm in here? Or is it just me?"

Dawn looked up from the book she was leafing through. "I hadn't noticed, but now that you mention it..."

"Welcome to the weirdness." She pulled off her sweater, checking to make sure that the sleeves of her shirt were still tucked into the the gloves before picking up the next book. "Well now this is interesting."

Dawn leaned across the table and started reading upside down. "What am I looking at?"

"The Source: A Biography," Isabel said as she pushed the book over for Dawn to look at.

The room was still getting warmer and Isabel looked around warily.

Dawn was enjoying the warmth, then forgot about it as she started reading out loud, still laying across the table, "The Source is not an actual person or demon, but a set of powers that moves from host to host, assimilating each new body as its own..."

She groaned. "Oh, this is going to make finding the big bad almost impossible..."

"Maybe if we try to find Bel specifically?" she wondered. "But how do we prevent the Source from jumping to someone else if we trap him?"

"Some kind of barrier spell, maybe?"

"I'll take your word for it. I'm just randomly making guesses based on half the horror movies I've seen. You're the one with experience here."

It really was getting warmer and Isabel sighed. "Much more of this and I'll be looking for shorts and a t-shirt."

"I don't have experience with this," or much, really, if she was being honest with herself. She pulled at her sweater, finally noticing the heat. "Okay, this is a little toastier than I like my libraries."

"So it looks like we're going to have to wait for Chris and Wyatt to come up with something then. They're the ones with the book."

As if in response to Dawn's comment, a breeze started to blow over them, rustling the pages of the books and cooling the air slightly.

Dawn pouted a little. She liked finding the answer. "Oooh, a breeze..."

Following the breeze a small cloud of colorful butterflies fluttered in and surrounded them, landing on the books and any other available surface.
