Library [02/02]

Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. ~~Wait for~~ OCD is up and a little different today. ~~Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not.~~ That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

Tori had seen the poster in the hall, and made her way to the library, still feeling drained, but willing to help out in any way that she could.

And if they managed to find a way to fight these shadows, Tori was up for that.

Luke, also slightly see through, came up behind her.

"So, this totally blows," he commented. "I feel like a Force-ghost."

Tori nodded. "Yeah, it does." She grimaced. "Where and when did they attack you?" She was curious and also concerned.

"Yesterday afternoon, in my room," Luke said, grimacing as well. "I couldn't do anything."

He concentrated hard, becoming a little more solid. "I hate being cold," he muttered.

Tori frowned. "They attack in the rooms?" She couldn't believe it.

"I was attacked down on the beach." Tori shook her head. "I couldn't either. The cold stinks." She sighed. "Are you able to hold anything? Katara has hot chocolate and the like."

Luke face brightened up. "As long as I'm really thinking about it, yes," he said. He wrapped his arms around himself. "Hope we can figure out a way to make this stop. I've got too much to do still to be stuck falling through chairs for the rest of my life."

"Well, I'm sure we won't be like this forever." Tori was optimistic. "I'm sure there's a solution. Somewhere. We just have to find it." She smiled slightly. "I know what you mean."

Luke smiled at her. "I'll be right back."

He returned a few minutes later with two cups of hot chocolate. "No ice cream for them, sorry," he said, handing her one. "I've heard most of the jokes about people from Tatooine being slow," he said, "and if anyone saw me concentrating this hard on drinking something..."

Tori smiled brightly. "Thank you." She chuckled. "Katara told me that story last night. Something about pink ice cream?"

She relished the warmth the cup provided. Tori laughed a bit. "Oh, I'm sure the jokes would never end, would they?"

"Pink should not be a flavor," Luke said, taking a sip from his mug. He made a little happy sigh. "Not really, no. It's the price I pay for being from the furthest point from civilization."

"No, it should not." Tori chuckled. "Maybe civilization's not all it's cracked up to be." She shrugged, with a smile.

"At home? Truer words haven't been spoken," Luke agreed. "Not that I wanted to back to Tatooine, um, ever."

He took another sip from his mug. "But I certainly can't fly like this."

Tori chuckled a bit.

She became serious. "No, you can't. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't surf." Tori shook her head, not wanting to find out.

"Surf?" Luke repeated, looking confused.

Tori hadn't realized Luke wouldn't know what that was. "It's a sport that I engage in back home. Basically, it's where you have a board and you use to ride the waves in the ocean."

"Have you been okay?" Katara asked Tori worriedly. "Hot chocolate?"

Tori gave Katara a small smile. "I'm still tired, but other than that, I'm fine." She nodded. "That would be great, thank you."

She glanced around and noticed that some people were worse off than she was, they were transparent.

"Good," Katara said, smiling back. She pulled a cup out of her bag and filled it with hot chocolate for Tori. "To no more shadows allowed," she said, handing it to her.

Tori accepted the cup, the warmth feeling wonderful in her hands. "To no more shadows." She chuckled, hoping that whatever they came up with would work.

"Or at least none that want to make us cold and invisible," Katara added. "The non-vicious ones can stay. Probably would throw the world out of balance if we made *all* the shadows go away."

Tori nodded. "Yes. The non-vicious ones don't have to go away." She laughed. "Oh, that would be bad."

"We'll try to avoid that," Katara said with a giggle.

Tori smirked. "Yeah, that's a good idea."

Katara impulsively gave Tori a hug. "We'll do this."

She smiled and hugged Katara back. "Yes, we will."
