Library [02/02]

Rory came in bright and early and smacked a poster on the door before positioning herself behind the desk as usual with her coffee.

She grabbed a stack of books, and spent the day deep in research - both her own personal problem, and for the problems with the shadows.

[I'm AFK most of the day, so please mod Rory if you need help with something. ~~Wait for~~ OCD is up and a little different today. ~~Please wait for further OCD on the specific research thread, as it will be coming later while I am unconscious and people in Europe are not.~~ That OCD is up, too! Whooooo!]

Annette was there because she had seen the poster. Plus she was more than a little see-through, more than a little chilled to the bone, and tired as all crap.

She was cranky and scared and just wanted to be normal again.

Rose looked around the library and saw, to her dismay that Annette was also affected by the shadow things. "Annette?"

"Hi, Rose." Annette said softly, when she saw her. "I'm a little transparent. Sorry."

"It's alright, not your fault." She assured, she sat next to Annette. "We'll fix this, I promise you."

She tried to pull her blankets up higher around her shoulders, but the attempt was feeble at best. "I hope so. I only slept halfway on my bed last night. My head was on my pillow but my feet were on the floor."

She attempted to pat Annette on the shoulder reassuringly and thought of something to cheer her up. "I bought the thing you asked, was about to call you about it too."

If Annette had any energy at all, that would have totally perked her up. "Thank you, Rose. That was nice of you. I'll have to get it from you when this is all cleared up...if it get's cleared up."

She raised her hands, showing Rose that you could see right through them, and the little pat to her shoulder went right through her.

Just like Jack. The tiredness, the translucence. Her frown deepened into a scowl. "It'll get cleared-up." She said firmly. "It'll get cleared-up if I have to scour this whole island to do it."

"You are so great, Rose." She said softly, falling over and closing her eyes. "I'm awake. Just resting my eyes. I hope it's not a demon. I don't know how to fight demons."

"I do." Rose said, softly thinking of poor Toby and the blackhole yawning over them then loudly, "Plenty of other people here know how to."

"That's good, cause I'm just a plain girl. I don't know how to do much of anything." Annette whispered, her teeth chattering.

"No such creatures." Rose said, "I was a plain shopgirl myself before all these things happened."

"But you're a teacher now and that's important. You matter, Rose." Annette opened her eyes and peered up at Rose. "I wonder if I disappear completely if I will still be here. Like now, only there's just part of me."

Tori noticed Annette and she seemed worse off than before. A concerned look appeared on Tori's face. "Annette?"

"Hey, Tori." She said weakly. "I was attacked again."

Tori frowned. "No, so not cool!" She became worried. "It's gotten worse. What if you get attacked again?" No, don't think about that. "I'm sorry, I'm sure you don't want to think about that." She paused. "I really want to kick some shadow butt." Tori was frustrated and angry, oh yes. When her friends were attacked, she was ready to fight for them.

"I think I'm just too tired to care anymore. But I hope you do get to kick some shadow butt and kick it hard." Annette was just laying there, looking really really tired, and really transparent.

"I'm just going to hang out in here with everybody else and hope that the shadows keep away. I know when this is over, whenever that is? I am going to take one super long hot, no scalding, shower."

Tori offered a small smile. "I will certainly make sure to do that." She would kick some extra shadow butt on Annette's behalf. "Do you need anything?" She was concerned.

Tori nodded. "Okay, I hope they do too." She chuckled. "That sounds really good."

She smiled and shook her head. "No. I am good, thanks Tori. It doesn't matter how much clothing I have on, I am still freezing. What about you? How are you holding up?" She asked, concerned for her friend.

Tori smiled ruefully. "Yeah, that part stinks." She sighed. "I'm all right, still tired and cold, but dealing."

Annette nodded, agreeing. "I'm sorry I didn't find you last night. I sort of fell asleep in the second floor common room." Cuddled up with Dick which was so an accident. Nice and warm. But still an accident.

"No worries." Tori smiled. "Conner and Katara kept me company, in the third floor common room for a while." She really did appreciate their concern and willingness to look out for her.

"Conner was nice enough to make me soup." Tori chuckled, grinning.

"I'm so glad you were not alone. Conner and Katara are both so very nice."

Annette smiled. "He did? Was it good?"

"Yeah, me too." Tori nodded. "They are." She remembered the first time, she met Conner. He was pretty funny.

"It was from a can." Tori laughed. "But, yeah, it was."

Annette laughed. "A can of soup is better than nothing. How sweet of him, Tori." And she just realized, she has not eaten since yesterday afternoon.

She looked down and lifted up her shirt to look at her belly. Yep, see through.

"I wonder if I can even eat." She mumbled.
