Music is Love: [2/2] - Period 3

There's a flash of light and the stage is alive with the Music is Love theme song. Lorne dashes onto the stage with a grin on his face and most likely a song in his heart.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome once again to MUSIC IS LOVE!" Lorne said bowing to the canned applause. "I know you all are on pins and needles today just wondering who oh who could those mystery judges be! You must be on the edge of your seat! I'm so excited I just might squeal in girlish glory when they walk out."

"Ladies! Gentlemen! Children of all ages... Your judges are:"

Lorne waited for a suspenseful moment.

And then another.

And then another two or three moments.

He takes a deep breath...

And lets it out.

Then a drumroll starts.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! I give you... DARTH VADER AND ARTIE! THE STRONGEST MAN IN THE WORLD!"

Somebody must have cranked up the applause volume because it is quite loud.

Not quite as loud as the judges' personal theme music which appears to be a musical selection from Space Battles accompanied by a slide whistle, arm pit farting sounds and a kazoo.

Lorne smiles as he heads towards the judges table. "Our theme this week is Heroes and Villains. Let's see what our students have selected as their songs this week."

The middle aged man in thick glasses and red and blue pajamas bounced and pranced and posed about on the stage to the music.

"Greetings, my little musical vikings! It is I! Artie! The Strongest Man . . ." and what seems to be almost a dance break, here, as he grunts and hoots to himself, bouncing about and posing some more, before stopping, arms held triumphantly in a muscle-man pose. ". . . in the woooooorld!"

Then he stood almost normally, hands folded in front of him as he graciously and bashfully accepted the applause. Whether there was any or not. There may of been mutters of "Hush now, you make me blush" as he fixed his glasses and shuffled his feet and acted like an embarrassed little boy before finally taking his seat at the judges table.

Vader stared at Lorne for a long moment, then at Artie, then muttered something not quite under his breath about killing everyone and hiding the evidence.

"I don't sing," he growled, then flounced stomped walked to his seat to plot the deaths of give detention to listen to the students.

Cassie? Choose a really emo song about a dead superhero? Why of course!

She cleared her throat and sang.

Tarzan wasn't a ladies' man
He'd just come along and scoop 'em up under his arm
Like that, quick as a cat in the jungle
But Mark Dent now there was a real gent
He would not be caught sittin' around in no
Junglescape, dumb as an ape doing nothing

Ultraguy never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Hey Bob, Ult had a straight job
Even though he could have smashed through any bank
In the United States, he had the strength, but he would not
Folks said his family were all dead
Their planet crumbled but Ultraguy, he forced himself
To carry on, forget Lypton, and keep going

Tarzan was king of the jungle and Lord over all the apes
But he could hardly string together four words: "I Tarzan, You Jane. "

Sometimes when Ult was stopping crimes
I'll bet that he was tempted to just quit and turn his back
On man, join Tarzan in the forest
But he stayed in the city, and kept on changing clothes
In dirty old phonebooths till his work was through
And nothing to do but go on home

She sniffed a bit, having gotten teary eyed.

Naomi was currently flailing. She had no desire to miss class even though she was rather transparent. Still she got up and sang anyway doing her best to try and keep calm as she sang.

May the 7th, 1851
Day of days for Bridgeport’s favorite son
Living whales he sent to Hades
Likewise Swedish singing ladies
And the local clockworks he will run
Gone those wooly schemes that filled his head
Farewell Kelly green and cherry red
No more, step right up and see him
Barnum’s closed his last museum
And he’s gonna live his life instead

Black and white
The future’s rosy living black and white
Keep both feet on the ground
Don’t let those day dreams spin you around
See things the way they are
You’re gonna tumble if you fly too far
Stay low and hold on tight
Living black and white

He could run the clockworks Barnum found
In two months he’d run it in the ground
Purchased then 500 shovels
Said men mustn’t live in huddles
And a new utopia I will found
Planed a very modern model town
Elevated roads to stroll around
Grew so high it made you groggy
Built on land a trifle soggy
So as it rose up it started down

Black and white
He built a city that was black and white
It took no end of spunk
And looked quite splendid as it sunk
Here comes another lurch
There goes the depot and the Baptist church
As place slipped out of sight
They were black and white
So long, ta ta goodnight
Bye bye black and white
Oh ooh oh oh ooh oh oh ooh oh oh
Oh yeah

Heard about your city what a shame
But the truth is politics’ your game
Kissing babies making speeches
Posing with the local beeches
Fun, respect, nobility and fame

You could be an alder man, no wait
Congressman I mean U.S not state (mayor)
Oh no that’s easy pickin’s (senator)
Oh what the dickens
Why not hang a presidential slate

Black and white
He’s playing politics in black and white
Cold truth and good hard facts
Give all that razzmatazz the axe
No bunting in the streets
You’ll talk of budget cuts and ballot sheets
Statistics day and night
Running black and white

Black and white
He’s had his fill of living black and white
So long ta ta good night
Bye bye bye bye black and
White!!
