Extraterrestrial Civilizations - Class 4 [1/31, Period 4]

This afternoon found Ellie's desk surrounded by half a dozen stocky teddy-bear like creatures, poking at everything they could get their hands on. Ellie snatched a calculator away from one, giving him a warning look, and addressed the class. "Today's guests are Ewoks from the moon of Endor. They don't speak our language, but fortunagely they have a protocol droid with them to translate." She gestured to the silvery humanoid robot who now moved forward.

"Please give the Ewoks your attention," Ellie continued. "And remember, they may look cuddly, but they're not mere teddy bears."

The droid translated for one of the Ewoks in answer to Cameron's question. "Yes, their moon is covered with forests, and their villages are built in the trees, directly into the trunk or on the limbs. They have robe bridges to connect them."

"Coolest tree fort ever," Cameron decided. "How big are these trees if you can live in teh trunks?"

The Ewok waved his arms about and chittered. "Very big," the droid said helpfully.

Well the Ewoks weren't all that big... "How do you get down to the ground? And isn't it annoying that you have to climb down every time you need to go gather food?"

"They make ladders out of ropes and vines," the droid translated for the Ewok. "They are quite proud of being fast and nimble, so the distance does not bother them."

"Fast?" Cameron blurted out, before realising that might have been rude.

The Ewok chittered excitedly, looking around for something to climb and demonstrate. There being nothing else handy, he scaled the droid, much to its chagrin.
