"Well, the whole thing with Parker's email and Bel . . . and the randomly falling asleep yesterday, and the meditation stuff. . . ."

Chad nodded; he was now the one poking at his food. Really didn't know what to make of that email, but he did have a frown for part of the other stuff. "...Randomly falling asleep?"

"Nap in the common room and then . . . I don't know, it was like a spell or something. Marty and I were heading out, making plans, and the next thing I knew he was waking me up and taking me back to my room."

"Huh," Chad grunted. That was weird, and it made Chad worried. He hoped Nadia was taking care of herself, and that it wasn't caused by that. But he didn't say anything, either, because he didn't want her to think he was preaching or something.

"Yeah." Nadia stabbed a cherry tomato and it exploded across her salad. "Like I said, weird."

Ah, hell. He couldn't help being worried. "You been takin' care of yourself? Not gettin' too stressed out?"

"I'm not falling asleep because I'm stressed, Chad. If anything, I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was stressed. It's just . . . really weird," she finished lamely.

Chad shrugged; this was why he was reluctant to voice his concerns. He knew Nadia would be defensive about it. "Could be...your body physically taking charge, y'never know."

Well, wasn't that a freaky thought. "I think it was a spell," she said. "My body doesn't do stuff like that."

Chad wondered why a spell seemed like such a more acceptable answer than nature. Then again, this was a guy who, when it came to battles, would constantly fall over half-conscious because he put his body through more than it can handle, so perhaps he was a little more accepting of the fact that, when the body needed to stop, it stopped.

"Jus' happened that one time, right?"

"Yeah, when Marty and I were going to go look for Bel. And it was really hard to wake back up."

Chad's mind drifted back to the topic of Parker's email as he poked at his potatoes. "Y'don't think it had somethin' to do with this Bel stuff, then, do you?" He wasn't even sure if he even knew who the guy was, so he was pretty lost, but it wasn't that hard to make connections on things.

Nadia nodded. "Who knows how much power the demon that's possessing him has. And I dreamed about two of the other attacks. And Bel knows I did. So he might have targeted me, or something."

Might have? Unknown demon powers, telling dreams, and a sudden sleep right when she decided to go look for him? Chad frowned. "Uh, yeah. Might be it..."

"I can't think of anything else it might be. It's not like I haven't been taking care of myself, or anything." Of course, she hadn't actually eaten any of her salad yet, just kind of stabbed at it and pushed it around. She shook her head. "It's just weird. I'll be glad when the whole thing is over."

Chad nodded. "Yeah. Y'know, if ya need anything..."

Nadia smiled. "Thanks. And after I was kind of a bitch to you. I'm sorry about that."

Another shrug. "I prob'ly deserved some of it."

"You didn't want to talk. And it wasn't really my business. I just . . . I was the one who tried to get you two together in the first place. I felt responsible."

Thinking back a little on Jude's visit to Empire yesterday, Chad let a small grin slip by as he looked over at Nadia. "S'not like you were buildin' offa something that wasn't already there. Things prob'ly would have happened whether you were involved or not, Nadia."

"Yeah, but you guys would've taken forever." And as she'd admitted to Aziraphale that morning, she sucked at waiting. "Things with Teddy still good, at least?"

"Yeah," Chad nodded. "Real good."

And he reminded himself that he should feel ashamed to say that.

Nadia nodded. "Good. I'm glad at least something worked out. Would've really sucked if both relationships went bad."

"...Yeah."

Nadia stabbed at a carrot, and then watched as it skittered off her plate and onto the table. "We need a happier topic."
