Detention - The Danger Shop (January 27)

"You're all here because you're bad, bad little children." He looked at Deadpool. "And bad, bad little masked professors." He looked at the lottery winners. "Or because you have bad luck. Whatever. Shut up and get in the maze." He pointed to the rest of the Danger Shop, which was set up as a giant hedged labyrinth. "Leave any weapons you shouldn't have anyway over there," he looked pointedly at one or two of the detainees. No, just one really. "Take a packed lunch." He pointed to the bags. "You're gonna need it. Get in there, complete the four tasks along the way and get the prize off the thing guarding it. Or you could sit there and look like a girl and get detention again next week."

Yeah, he doesn't. He just started talking again. "Don't worry, I can't answer that question myself half the time. The first one, not the detention one. Detention sounds kind of nasty, but it can't be too nasty if all you have to do is stand here and talk to little old me, can it? Could be a lot worse, but then you haven't seen what's coming up next and that's pretty bad. I guess Hades has a sense of humor or something, but you'd never know just to look at him."

Dick snapped out of his pondering quickly. "I think anyone who wears a dress must have some sort of humor. I mean, look at you, that's a spiffy skirt you're wearing and you seem like a generally good-humored guy...god. Guy-god."

"I am! We mostly are. Though skirts are pretty normal where we come from. But then too many people kept getting kicked in the gonads, so mortals figured out how to sew better and made pants, and they became the trend to keep protective cups in place. And well, gods have to keep up with the trends you know."

"I'm sure the skirts are pretty freeing though. Especially if you went commando." says Dick. He had to think of a way to get this guy to shut up. Why oh why did detention require so much thinking?

"Hey, pretty nice glasses you got there! Prescription or strictly for style?" asked Dick in a totally innocent voice.

"Prescription. Zeus was on this whole 'we should be more vulnerable! It'll make the mortals like us more!' kick a while back, but of course he didn't want to participate, he just made the rest of us do it. I got the short-sighted end of the deal."

He could not believe a god of all people would be falling for this. Dick took the glasses and quickly slid them across the floor, trying not to break them.

"Sorry dude!" Dick called as he moved to run away.

"Hey, wait! What? What just happened? I, I think I fell for a mortal trick. I did, didn't I?" he asked the open air. His shoulders sagged and he chuckled a little at himself. "So this is what embarassment feels like. Boy, Hera's never gonna let me hear the end of this one." He kept talking to himself as Dick escaped.
