Creative Writing, Period 6 1/24

Yuki seemed to be in an almost pleasant mood today. He stands to begin his lecture, “Good afternoon. I hope none of you suffered a large amount of psychological trauma this past weekend, and if you have, think of it as good writing material.”

“Today we’re going to look in depth into the most important base for a story. Good characters. They’re more important than the setting, or plot. Once you have solid characters, the rest will work itself out. Today is the first day you’re going to work on your final piece. I want you to create two firm characters and submit them to me by the end of class with a short description of each.”

“This doesn’t have to be final, but I want you to begin creating the characters that are going to drive your story. I also what you to doodle the two characters that you’re submitting, just because.” Just because he wants to laugh at your art skills. To himself later on, of course. “Oh and Hoodie-Brain, you don’t need to draw the character along the lines.”

Nova turned in what he wrote, including his drawings. They didn't look anything like what Rukia usually drew, so Nova was feeling a little disappointed.

Noah (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i257/Conejitablue/my%20art/Noah2.jpg) is a high school aged youth. He has red hair with a large blue streak off to the side. He is shy and quiet, but he is a GOOD WRITER and artist. He is a nibelungen ~~Nova so came up with that word on his own, shut up~~ and attends school in Lower Earth (the underworld). He lives a very difficult and stressful life, much of the stress caused by harassing from his evil writing teach Mr. Oniyuki. He often covers his face with scarves or high turtleneck sweaters.

Mr. Eikichi Oniyuki (http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i257/Conejitablue/my%20art/Oniyuki2.jpg) is a very ornery teacher at Loge High School, located in Lower Earth. Mr. Oniyuki is a demon who finds pleasure in torturing his students, especially poor Noah. He has blond hair, two horns, and an eye patch. His hobbies are smoking, drinking, and, of course, torturing his students, whether physically or mentally. When angered, he begins to resemble a blue ogre with large curving horns and sharp teeth. He also has various torture devices and hidden traps in the his class.

It was possible that Nova was inspired by real life, but not completely intentional. He wasn't so much concerned about what the teacher might think, but maybe he should have had the thought in mind while writing.

Yuki reads these things over with an increasing grin. Of course he saw through this thinly veiled characterization. He's surprisingly impressed by Nova's drawing ability. Though, in this case it really just serves to make the "characters" true idenities even easier to spot. His first thought is to tease Hood Brain merciously. But his second thought is much more appealing.

"Wonderful work Nova. And great work on your drawings." And that's one of those encouraging smiles. From Yuki... it might scare young children. "For a bit of homework maybe you can write about what exactly a nibelugen is. You can go sit down though. Nice job."

Yes... he's interested to see how this will turn out if he lets him run with it. Seems like this could get QUITE entertaining.

Nova is a little uneasy by the overly positive reception for his writing. He just nods and heads back to his seat, unaware of what Yuki might really be thinking.

Yuki pauses after looking this mess over. He struggles to find the right insult. But... he's sort of dumbfounded and as his first comment he can only blink and ask, "Wexler. Did you write that DEADPOOL was cooler than me?"

Turtle grinned widely, proudly, but couldn't speak without chuckling first. "Yes," she finally said, face red from the effort to restrain herself. "Yes, I did."

"And exactly WHY would you make such a false claim?"

"It isn't a false claim," Turtle insisted, with a nod. "Mr. Deadpool is way cooler than you are, Mr. Yuki. Sir."

"Where's your proof reptile?"

Oh, reptile. Mr. Yuki was pulling out the big guns.

"I could easily provide your proof by next class, if you'd like, Mr. Yuki, with a student opinion poll."

"Now now. Opinions are completely irrelevant. I want solid proof."

Turtle crossed her arms over her chest. "Can you provide solid proof that he isn't?"

"Yes. He watches girly TV, he wears a costume ALL the time, and his name is ridiculous."

Turtle was quiet for a moment.

He might have her on the girly TV and the costume but...

"Prove to me that Deadpool's any more ridiculous that Yuki," said the girl who insisted on being called Turtle.

"I promised not to share his real name. Just like he promised not to use mine. But trust Wexler. It's stupid."

Turtle's eyes widened, mouth forming an 'o' of intrigue, and she leaned in a little. "It's not his real name?"

"I'd kill my parents if they named me Deadpool."

Turtle grunted a little. "I would've taken it."

It would have sure beat the heck out of...no. No. She mustn't even think of it, it was too terrible.

Jake's character descriptions? Brief. Very, very brief. The sketches, however, were very detailed which possibly explained the briefness of the descriptions.

"Captain Arker is ex-army, and she's now a bodyguard for the famous and bitchy moviestar Anna Bayer, who's been getting threatening letters as she's filming her new blockbuster movie Olympia."

Yuki likes the fanservice of these drawings. But he's stuck on one thing, "My god kid. Why aren't you in art instead of this class?"

"Because there isn't one this year," Jake said. There might've been some sulking.

"Oh well. Look on the brightside. Today you got to show off your actual talent. Woohoo right?" He chuckles and lets Jake go sit down. Wowwww Jake actually made Yuki smile. Impressive.
