Today Emma is in diamond shape. She has listened to the radio and has no wish to be overwhelmed by traumatized minds, thank you very much.

The desks are covered with yarn in a variety of colours and styles, knitting needles and papers with instructions written down on.

"Today we begin Operation: Knit a Scarf," Emma announced. "At the end of this class, you can either choose to take your knitting with you, or leave it in your box. Either way I want to see a scarf in a fortnight. One you can comfortably tie around your neck."

"Yes, Mister 6?" Emma looked up from her own attempt at knitting. The yarn was, of course, white.

"I truly hate to ask this," 6 said. "I need you to wipe my mind. Just the weekend."

Emma gave him a delighted look. "Really?" Then she remembered herself and pouted. "I'm afraid I can't do that."

6 frowned. "Why in the blazes not?"

"The principal has forbidden me to mindwipe students. She was very firm on that topic." Emma brightened again. "But if you put in a request with her and bring me back a note that says it's fine, then of course I'd be happy to assist you!"

6 glared. "I see. So you'd like me to visit the principal. Very clever. Overlay false memories of a nature sure to disgust me and then manipulate me into her office. They are very clever indeed," 6 said. "My apologies, madame, I understand you are merely a pawn in this."

Emma blinked at the sudden mood swing. "Okay, that's..." She was almost sure she'd remember it if she'd given him false memories. "I was the White Queen, not a pawn," she corrected him, in case that's what got him confused.

"Queen to king's bishop's pawn. Check... but no mate yet. You will never mate me," 6 said, oblivious to the connotations.

Emma's expression was quite probably priceless at that announcement. "Believe me, Mister 6, the thought never even crossed my mind."

Emma stared after 6 and made a mental note to bring him up at the next faculty meeting. Maybe one of the other teachers would know what the hell he was on about.
