Abby welcomed the students into the danger room by handing out lab coats and directing them to the lab. "Last week was excellent, I'm totally impressed by your work! Because you guys turned out to know more than I thought, I'm bumping up the lessons plans. Today we're going to be focusing on two techniques."

"We're going to be looking for leftovers today. Leftover blood and leftover residue from a gun." Abby gave a quick lecture on the history, chemical basics and uses of Luminol. She didn't really care if you were taking notes or not. "What you need to remember for today's class is 'wetter is better'. Don't skimp on spraying the solution. You don't want to let the bad guy get off because you were nervous about getting the drapes soggy. Once you've sprayed the solution, use the portable blacklights to determine whether or not there's a glow."

"Next we're going to test for gunshot residue." Abby grinned and held up a plastic arm off a mannequin. "This is Creepy Pete, the criminal. He's going to help you learn today, aren't you, Pete?" The hand didn't respond. Running through a history of the chemicals used and the methods employed to test for gunshot residue, Abby finished up by grabbing a tube and brush. "It's easy as pie. You brush on the activator and then hold the hand under a special light. Ta-da! Creepy Pete has been up to no good."

Abby rubbed her hands together excitedly and pointed towards the crime scene door. "Now for the fun part! Today's crime scene is a mystery that you need to solve. The police found young Sam, the victim of an apparent suicide. But there are some concerns." Abby led the way to the doorway so that the students could see the crime scene, a small bedroom with light blue walls, a desk and chair, carpeted floors. Then there was the bed where Sam Winchester lay, seemingly dead, one hand lying on his chest and the sheet beneath his head slick with dried blood.

"Now," Abby had allowed a few moments for the crime scene to sink before speaking. "The first officers on the scene found a gun in Sam's hand, just lying across his chest. Such a perfect placement like that after shooting yourself in the head seemed a little iffy and add the fact that there's no blood spatter on the bed and you've got a possibility that this case isn't as open and shut as it looks. Check out the room with the the luminol and then check out Sam for gunshot residue. Pick up your handouts and your tools from the lab and then get to work. Use the evidence to figure out what happened and then catch the bad guy."

John waved. Then decided that the 'dead' person probably couldn't see that.

"Yo. Uh, ready for the verbal autopsy?"

Sam couldn't resist smirking. "As opposed to a real autopsy? Definitely."

Parker looked at him, and wondered if *every* crime scene was going to give her issues. Not so much with the identity this time, fortunately. "Hey, Sam. So, that blood on the pillow-- where's the wound on your head? Single bullet?"

"Yeah, just one bullet," he said, pointing to the side of his head. "Apparently, my skull wasn't as thick as Dean always said it was."

"Time of death was 10:00pm," Sam replied. "And the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head."

"Why am I in this class?" Broots asked the body. "And what time did you die?"

"I assume you're in this class because you signed up," Sam replied, "and I died at 10:00pm."

"Hey Zero. I died at 10:00pm from a gunshot wound to the head," Sam replied.

Lucas raised a hand. "Hi." This was getting weird talking to a new dead body every week. "Time of death, cause of death, any other injuries and can I take a look at your hand?" Best to get it all out at once.

"Hey," Sam greeeted. "Time of death was 10:00pm, cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, my only other injury is a bruise on my chest, and..." Sam smiled as he handed over the plastic glove. "Here, have a hand."

Ami was not a big fan of blood, even if she knew it was fake. Fighting the urge to throw up, she walked over to Sam.

"Um, can i establish time and cause of death by examining the body and taking the appropriate temperatures please?"

"As much as I'm sure I'd enjoy getting my temperature taken, I can just tell you that I died at 10:00pm, and that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head," Sam replied.

Mac wasn't really that keen to take a closer look at the dead person, she's had enough with violence aftermath recently without bringing it to class. "Hi," she said. "Been dead long?"

Sam sensed some discomfort, and really hoped she wouldn't pass out on him like Broots had. "Since 10:00pm," he replied.

"Hi, Sam," Lana said. "So, single gunshot to the head. Time of death? Any other injuries or things I would find in my handwavy examination? Oh, and I'm supposed to check your hand for gunpowder residue."

"Hi there!" Rikku sat down next to the boy. OK, she still felt a bit unnerved by the whole pretending-to-be-dead thing, if only because it looked so real, but she was hoping that'd get better with time. So instead she smiled brightly and tried to ask the questions on her sheet.

"OK, so! When did you die? Did you definitely die from the shot, or was there anything else? I mean, were there other injuries?" She glanced back at the sheet. "Is there any gunshot residue stuff on your hand? Or anywhere else on you?"

She considered for a minute. "Did you leave a note or anything? Did your friends think you were acting funny? Or is that not the kinda thing we can ask you?"

Sam grinned and tried to take her questions in order. "I died at 10:00pm, and yes, I definitely died from the shot. But I also have a bruise on my chest," he said. "You can check my 'hand' for gunshot residue," he added, handing her a plastic glove.

"And no, I didn't leave a note, which is something my brother would find very odd."
