*CJ sits at the front of the class in a black turtleneck with the collar pulled high, and a long denim skirt with nearly-knee-high boots. She wears large dark sunglasses. A huge steaming mug sits in front of her. To the class, all she says is...*

"I'm here. You can use this time to study or you can leave. If you have any further questions about manipulation, you can sure ask me. If you want to chatter, I didn't sleep right and I have a headache, so just keep it down."

*She leans back in her chair and rubs her own neck. No one can even tell if her eyes are open...*

Proffessor Cregg? If you don't mind me asking - I can always ask another time, I'm curious to know about your views on manipulation and persausion, given your history in the white house. I understand that there were some editorials written, wondering if you were being manipulated into giving what information you did, by the others in the administration.

*Looks at Elizabeth, her expression serious*

Everything I ever said reflected the views of the administration. As part of that cabinet, even if I didn't personally agree, I still did my job. Nobody...nobody understands what it's like to be able to speak your mind in private and then turn around and spin the situation in a different direction to others. I said a lot of things...but I always did it consciously and of my own free will. I think manipulation happens when someone is stripped of their will by persuasion.

*Tears roll down her cheeks from under her glasses, and it is clear that whatever she's thinking about has nothing to do with being Press Secretary*

Thank you, Professor. I didn't see what they were saying myself. My fa... grandfather always said that you were the best press secretary the White House had seen for a long time, and that it was an adminstration like yours that made him proud to be a Democrat.

*she takes off her glasses to look at Elizabeth and she looks terrible. She looks like she hasn't slept at all and her eyes are red from crying. She didn't put on any eye makeup, and generally looks like she got had a horrible night*

It's so good to hear that Elizabeth. The President had a lot of tough choices to make, and we knew we didn't make everyone happy...but certain issues were important to all of us. One thing is for sure...the truth is always better than lies or deceipt.

* She sighs heavily, and then smiles at Elizabeth, a look of sudden understanding crosses her face*
