Speech Comm

Sign taped to door:
No class today. Sorry gang. If you need me for something important, I'm in the lounge...

*CJ sits at the front of the class in a black turtleneck with the collar pulled high, and a long denim skirt with nearly-knee-high boots. She wears large dark sunglasses. A huge steaming mug sits in front of her. To the class, all she says is...*
"I'm here. You can use this time to study or you can leave. If you have any further questions about manipulation, you can sure ask me. If you want to chatter, I didn't sleep right and I have a headache, so just keep it down."
*She leans back in her chair and rubs her own neck. No one can even tell if her eyes are open...*

Everything I ever said reflected the views of the administration. As part of that cabinet, even if I didn't personally agree, I still did my job. Nobody...nobody understands what it's like to be able to speak your mind in private and then turn around and spin the situation in a different direction to others. I said a lot of things...but I always did it consciously and of my own free will. I think manipulation happens when someone is stripped of their will by persuasion.
*Tears roll down her cheeks from under her glasses, and it is clear that whatever she's thinking about has nothing to do with being Press Secretary*

Thank you, Professor. I didn't see what they were saying myself. My fa... grandfather always said that you were the best press secretary the White House had seen for a long time, and that it was an adminstration like yours that made him proud to be a Democrat.

Thank you Elizabeth. We like to think we fought the good fight.
*picks up the coffee Rory left for her and sips it*

It's so good to hear that Elizabeth. The President had a lot of tough choices to make, and we knew we didn't make everyone happy...but certain issues were important to all of us. One thing is for sure...the truth is always better than lies or deceipt.
* She sighs heavily, and then smiles at Elizabeth, a look of sudden understanding crosses her face*
Thank you Elizabeth.

*softly* I agree totally.
*hesitates, but speaks ahead anyway*
Professor, are you... are you okay?

I meant it... I mean, when I said, if there was anything I could do to help. *hand hovers awkwardly, aborting a motion to touch her hand*

*she manages a weak smile*
That means a lot. Really.

*Sighs and looks away*
I will be.

Well, if you ever wanted to talk...
*remembers that she's a teenager again, and blushes* 'Course she's not going to talk to you about it.

You're very welcome, Professor.
[ooc: They should! That would be awesome! Although Liz will have to be very careful not to let anything slip from her past life *g*]
