Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You , Class One [Period 5, Thursday]

The students were greeted with an empty classroom as they filed in.

Once everyone was seated, Ares appeared in a flash of blue light. "Greetings," he said. "I am Ares, God of War, and before you all start with the questions and flailing and prostrating yourself before me in worship, yes I am the Ares, and I am a real god. I'll be happy to give a demonstration to anyone who doesn't believe me." His tone suggested that while he might be happy to give a demonstrate, the person he gave it to wouldn't be.

"Now, to class. I'm assuming you all signed up because you want to learn more about the gods," Ares said, leaning against his desk. "Believe me you will. Forget the drunken ramblings of half-mad priests and madder politician, from me you'll be hearing firsthand accounts of the gods, in all their glorious and less than glorious moments. As you can see from the syllabus, we will be focusing on the Greek pantheon, otherwise known as the Olympians. Because, hey, you can't escape family."

"Because this is the first class, and I realise you may all be somewhat awed by being taught by me, a real live god, I'm going to go easy on you all, trust me, it won't happen again. Today you're just going to introduce yourself, tell the class which gods and goddesses you worship and why."

He waved a dismissive hand at the class. "Well, what are you waiting for, go on."

Rikku's going to be a problem student. Just giving you a heads-up.

(I don't know if you know any of her canon, but basically: there was a massive oppressive religion going on, lots of sacrifice and self-denial and all that, and Rikku's tribe were the group calling "Bullshit!" and being oppressed/attacked/you-name-it for it. After a thousand years, it came out two months ago that the whole religion was a big corrupt sham, and that if people had figured it out sooner and done something, the Big Evil Demon of their world could have been vanquished CENTURIES ago. Bitter = Very Yes.)

Feel free to smite her in any way you see fit. :D

Also: I love that this class shortens to "T'Gay."

For some crazy reason (ie. he's a manslut) Ares is slightly more flexible with female students (because he's a manslut completely lacking any sense of morals), but push him hard enough and there shall be smiting, oh yes. :D

The acronym was actually entirely unintentional, apparently my subconscious is even dirtier than my conscious.

Hahahaha, awesome. Manslut!Ares is fun. :D Rikku's too ADD to stay angry long, so she's probably going to stick to snotty outbursts now and then, and just general Grumpy Atheist the rest of the time. (She's in this class by computer error. I, uh, saw the description and couldn't resist.)

Someone should point the acronym out to Ares, as he seems like the panicky homophobic type. "No! NO! The God of War desires WOMEN, dammit!"

Yay! Problem students should band together! Janet thinks all "gods" are really aliens who've co-opted Earth pantheons as their own, and has issues with them that comes from a) being in a war against them for quite a few years, b) seeing what centuries of repression and intolerance in the name of false gods has done, and c) generally being a cranky sort of person.

Janet generally knows when to stop with the pushing, but I expect I'll be asking for a divine smiting or two for her this semester. Because, really, fun!
