Isabel yawned when she opened up the library, still not quite back in the rhythm of the semester. Fortunately she had a very large mocha and her iPod to wake her up.

It was surprising how much dust accummulated in two weeks. Isabel had the duster out, running it over all the surfaces she could reach.

Dusting done, it was time to check out what new novels had come in.

Forget the novels. There was a new Cosmo.

Abby entered the library on a mission. "You! Library aide girl!"

Isabel looked up from the fashion article (http://magazines.ivillage.com/cosmopolitan/style/clothes/photo/0,,705511_705512,00.html) she was reading. "Yes? Can I help you?"

"What are you doing tomorrow during 5th period?" Abby asked, leaning on the desk.

"Umm...nothing? Although it sounds like you might have something in mind?" she asked. Please god don't let it involve people swimming in my bloodstream.

"Excellent!" Abby grinned. "Meet me in the danger room tomorrow and we'll get you ready for my class."

"Sure," Isabel agreed, figuring it couldn't be that bad. "I'll see you then."

Abby nodded and left the library, intent on another mission that involved finding Caff-Pow.

Isabel logged into her email account and found a new message from Kyl, wondering if she was in jail for murder. Of course she had to reply and fill him in on how boys can be so silly.

The library was closed for lunch unless you were a librarian or an aide

Isabel's off to Revolutions. Perhaps someone else can help you? Otherwise the library is closed.

Solitare was always fun.

6 stalked into the library. "Oh hell, it's you."

"Hi Six!" Isabel said cheerfully, looking up from the game. "How are you? Settling in okay?" When in doubt? Aggravate.

6 scowled. "Right. I'll locate the book on my own. Don't let me rouse you from your little diversion." Contempt was such a beautiful thing.

Isabel grinned. "Nonsense. Helping you is what I'm here for. In fact it would make my day to help you find the book you're looking for."

"I'm certain that you've been keenly instructed," 6 said, eying her. Too silly to be a plant, but he'd underestimated far flightier-seeming people before.

"I've got skills," she replied. "But mind reading isn't one of them. You're going to have to tell me the name of the book."

"Why? So you can record what literature I am reading?" He sounded amused that she'd think him so stupid. "Going to send your mountie in my bedroom at night to bind and gag me for reading Machiavelli?"

"Well here's the deal," Isabel said slowly and patiently, as if she were explaining something to a small child. "You can read whatever you'd like here in the library and not tell me. But if you want to take a book back to your room with you? I'm going to have to check it out using your library card. And that means recording the name of it." Then she made a face. "Thank you for ruining my mental picture of the Mountie. It really didn't need bondage."

"I had no intention of doing something so fundamentally idiotic as allowing you to make a record of my book selections. I have never left the library with a book and I have no intention of starting now," Number 6 said, bristling at the condescension.

"And if you find the concept of bondage so unsettling, perhaps you should start fighting the system instead of frolicking with it."

Isabel tried not to laugh because he was taking this way too seriously. "Well in that case feel free to wander about and read at will. If you're that paranoid about me seeing what you're reading, then at least I can probably count on you to reshelve them yourself."

"And the bondage itself isn't that unsettling. I just never pictured it with the Mountie. But now that I think about it some, it's not that bad a picture. Especially if whipped cream is involved."

"You have a disturbing mind," 6 said and the tromped off to find the Machiavelli.

"Thank you!" she called after him. "Have a good day!"

Isabel straightened up the library in preparation for closing, all the while debating tactics in her head. Finally, she left a message (http://time-agent.livejournal.com/2225.html?thread=1646001#t1646001). Hopefully he'd be there.

I'll be AFK till sometime this afternoon, probably around 1 or 2. I'll pick up all pings then.
