As the students enter the classroom, they might notice the large number of motivational posters with large slash marks on them.

(Teach those damn kittens to keep hanging in there.)

And they might also notice the man in the red and black outfit, leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on the desk. He waited until all of the students were in the room before speaking.

"Good morning boys and girls! Welcome to Driver's Education," He said. "My name is Deadpool, call me that or Professor Wilson if you really feel the need to get all formal. Or Professor Deadpool. Oooo! I like that better. Call me Professor Deadpool."

He stood, passing out a syllabus to all of the students before moving back to his desk, leaning against the front of it. "I don't feel like teaching you kids anything today because it's the first class of the semester and nobody ever pays attention to those," Wade said. "Instead, I'm going to learn who all of you are. Unfortunately, not all of us teachers are telepaths and can just yank that information out of your fragile little minds. So I am going to have you all pick a partner, talk with them, and then tell me an interesting or insanely personal fact about 'em!"

At the end of class, just as everyone was filing out, Wade paused. "Oh yeah, my office hours are all day tomorrow. My empty, empty office is always open for your angsty teen drama needs."

"Okay." Demyx sat on his desk, swinging his feet a little. He was at least going to keep up the image of being upbeat. "What are we supposed to go over? I guess the basics are...my name is Demyx, I'm from The World That Never Was, and I'm a Nobody...so, uh, I don't have a heart."

Z's eyebrows shot up. "Well, that's certainly an interesting fact. I'm Z Delgado, from Newtech City, California, and I can make replicates of myself."

"Oh, really?" Demyx looked excited. "I can too! Sortof." He pulled his sitar out of the air without explaining that one, playing a few notes and creating two replicas of water. "Like that?"

"No, actually." Z's eyes flashed gold, and then there were three of her. "How did you do that?" one of them asked Demyx.

"I can control water," the original (and only solid, colorized version of) Demyx replied, the other two dissolving as quickly as they'd appeared. "Music's my focus - it's not really required, but it makes everything easier."

Z's eyes glowed again as she reabsorbed her replicates. "Oh. I'm a genetic mutant."

"I don't know why I can do it. I don't think I could before I became a Nobody." He shrugged. "At least you're whole?"

"Yeah, I guess so," Z said softly. "So, you didn't used to be a Nobody, whatever that is?"

"I was human, once." Demyx shrugged, forcing a smile. "I'm not anymore, though. Because I don't have a heart. I used to think that we do actually have hearts, that the others just wanted an excuse to be the way they were...but...well..." he shrugged again. "I guess I have reason to believe it now."

"Well, that sucks," Z said. "Sorry I pushed. Um. How are you alive if you don't have a heart? Don't you sort of, you know. Need that?"

"Technically, we don't exist!" Demyx smiled brightly to cover that gaping wound. "I don't know the whole deal with it. Vexen would know, but I'm not about to go try to visit again and be gone for another three months." Fight the emo! Demyx shook it off.

"So you're a mutant, I'm a Nobody. Neither of us is really human, huh?"

Z winced. As much as she tried to tell herself she was human, there were still an awful lot of people who'd say she wasn't. "No, that's totally not...sort of, I guess, yeah."

Demyx? Not so good with the whole opening massive emotional wounds and all that. But very, very good at sticking his foot ~~or, preferrably, other things~~ in his mouth. "...Sorry. Bad past couple days." Demyx squirmed uncomfortably.

"You're a hell of a lot more human than me. You've just got a little extra; I'm missing a few things." He tried to smile. "So in reality, you are all that and a bag of chips?"

"I guess you could say that," Z sort of mumbled. "So, you like music, or is that a Nobody thing?"

"Nah, I'm kinda special there. Actually, I'm the only one I know of. Other than my Dancers. But they're not really intelligent. Mostly, everybody always told me to stop goofing off and work on," he paused, making a face. "Making myself 'useful'. Basically, because I'm really bad at fighting, they thought I was worthless." Confidence issues, much?

Now Z looked indignant. "Well, that's just stupid!"

"Yeah, well, what can you do?" Demyx shrugged, grinning slightly. "We all died in the long run anyway, so I don't think it really matters in the end."

"You don't look very dead."

"Yeah, I know, isn't it weird?" Demyx shook his head. "I know I died 'cause I was all floaty in the whole black boring limbo place, but then there was light and everybody always says 'head toward the light!' so I did." He paused, breathed, and continued. "And the light spat me out here. So I wasn't sure if maybe I was just in, you know, the Other Side, but I think if anything maybe this is purgatory."

"Yeah, no," Z told him. "This is not purgatory. Because I know I'm not dead. I have to go be a cop after this. Maybe you were just unconscious or something!" Because unconscious was so much better than dead.

"Maybe not for you," Demyx pointed out. "But how do you know that you don't just go to other worlds when you die? It's possible!"

"I...guess," Z said. "I sorta figured I'd go to Heaven, though." She didn't really think about the afterlife that much, honestly.

"Maybe to some people it is Heaven." Demyx could get weird when he got philosophical. "Like a lot of things here are better than they were where I was before."

"Ditto," Z said. "But it could be better."

"Yeah, but what if you came from somewhere where you were like...you know, lower than dirt, and then came here? Because it would be pretty heaven-like. Despite classes." Demyx made a face. "Those aren't very heavenly."
