((For the newbies: The lunch post is for students to gather and chat between 4th and 5th period. Yes, the Chef is a muppet and he has muppet chickens helping him with the cooking. The food is safe...mostly. I'll leave an OOC note if he accidentally leaves a sock in his cake batter or anything. And if you have a suggestion for the lunch post or a plotty type deal with the food then feel free to e-mail me!))

Setsuna shook her head. "Oh, no, there was nothing wrong with it. It's just that the professor is a little...essentric. But, I suppose a prolonged exposure to dark arts can do that to a person."

"Ah. So what is that class about? I mean, against which kinds of malicious magic are you learning to defend?" Henry's been on the fence about the existance of magic for quite some time. So he's a little curious.

"We haven't gotten much into it yet," Setsuna said, with a disapproving frown...still...over chocolate as the ultimate weapon. "Really, any magic can be considered malicious if being used by the wrong people, so I suppose the class could easily be reflective of any class in which you are learning to better prepare yourself for evil."

Henry listened intently. "That makes sense. Even things created with intent for the greatest good could be used for evil."

You never spoke a more truthful sentence.
Shut it, Edward.

The smile on Setsuna's face was soft, restrained, and reflective, and her nod was grave. "Thankfully, the same could be said for the opposite. The world can be very interesting that way, turning what can be expected right on its ear."

Henry looked wistful. "I'm still reserving judgement on that side of the statement, but I certainly hope that it's true."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-01-08 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, this certainly did feel like it was turning out to be more than just a casual lunchtime conversation... Setsuna drew in a deep breath and looked across the table at him. "It is," she said, quietly, convincing herself more than she was reassuring him. If that wasn't true, then she...she was in trouble.

Henry stops his emo interlude, realizing that their chat has taken an unhappy turn. Time to change the topic with all the speed of a locomotive.
"Though I expect people here at Fandom tend to focus on their studies, are there any other pastimes of note?"

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Hm?" Setsuna seemed to have fallen into a bit of a reverie, and blinked up toward Henry. "Oh. Pasttimes. Well, there are many different clubs; I'm sure they'll be starting those up again soon. I'm a member of the fencing club, myself, although we don't focus on just fencing, but all sword styles."

[identity profile] henryoredward.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
"We have- or rather, had- a fencing team at my boarding school. One of my best friends was rather proficent." Henry gave a self-depricating smile. "He tricked me into some childish version of a duel, wherin I was beaten soundly."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Setsuna's head tilted slightly with deep interest. "Are you interested much in fencing, then, Henry? Or was it just something you pursued with your friend? I'd be very happy to help you improve if you'd like. I've taken on students before; Asuna-san had an emmense amount of natural talent, but I do like to think my training had something to do with her success with a sword."

[identity profile] henryoredward.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, no," Henry shook his head. "You wouldn't find any talent in me at all; I'm absolutely terrible at most sports. I'd be a disgrace."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
"No fair," Setsuna said with a small smile. "Now you have me curious."

[identity profile] henryoredward.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Really, I only tried it the once, and it was Lanyon's way of making an utter ass of me." He looked apologetic, and added a quick, "If you'll excuse my choice of words."

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Setsuna nodded. "Excused. But perhaps you should come down to the salle sometime? I'm usually there working with my sword, and it's quiet, so the only person you'll make an...ass of yourself in front of is me, and I wouldn't worry at all about that."

[identity profile] henryoredward.livejournal.com 2007-01-09 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Against his better judgement, Henry really is a little interested. He nods. "All right, then. I suppose another try can't hurt too much." He laughs. "Then again, due to the emmense differences in skill, it could hurt quite a lot."
