As everyone came into class, they could see that Krycek had laid out a handout on every desk. He waited at the front of the class until everyone had taken a seat before starting, looking rather cheerful.

"Relationship ethics," he began, then spread his hands, smirking. "Yes, I'm serious. That's what my syllabus says and we're running with it. I'm sure you'll all have fun."

Krycek held up one of the handouts, paraphrasing the first part. "'A basic and trustworthy relationship that one has to another human being, that cannot necessarily be characterized in terms of any abstraction other than trust and common protection of each other's body.' And, as it says, honestly is generally considered a major focus in an ethical relationship.

"I think we all know that it's not always possible to be completely honest, 100% of the time, right? People will be people, no one's perfect, and all that. Sometimes there have to be lies, mutually acknowledged or held by one party, in order to maintain the relationship at all." Krycek remained somewhat amused as he continued. "So when, if ever, is it okay to lie to your partner? When is it okay to invade your partner's privacy? What counts as invading your partner's privacy in the first place?"

After the main discussion, Krycek pulled out a carton of eggs from behind the desk. "Now this is your final project, which will wrap up next week."

He held up one raw egg, grinning slightly. "Congratulations, kids, you're now egg-parents. You'll be caring for an egg for the next week, reports to be made in our last class of the term. I've assigned some pairs and a couple of people as single parents, so go ahead and find your partner - or come get your egg-baby if you're alone - and use the last part of the class to name your baby, decide if it's a boy or a girl, and figure out who gets custody first."

Once everyone had split off, Krycek raised his voice for attention one last time. "So you know, I'll be listening to radio. You can't leave your egg-baby unattended - treat it just like a real baby. And don't think you can get away with breaking your egg, because I'll know. Believe me, I have my ways. So happy parenting and I'll see you all next week!"

"You think I have an egg chin?" Jack grinned and stroked a hand over his chin, then ran a finger over the egg. "You could be right. If it takes after both of us, it's going to be a looker, though."

He set the egg down very carefully, so it wouldn't roll off the desk. "So, egg duty. You want first crack at it, or you want me to take it?"

"Compliment appreciated," Tyler said. "I'm flexible on custody. I can take it tonight, and maybe we could do a hand-off Saturday morning?" He tapped the egg on the "head." "Think Junior's good for a name, or do we need something more creative?"

Jack grinned and waved a hand at Tyler. "Compliment deserved. And that works, I'll meet up with you on Saturday to grab him. Her?" Jack pondered the egg for a moment. "Hmm, and Junior's gonna give the kid a complex, an egg needs its own identity. How about...Bob?"

Something flickered across Tyler's eyes at that suggestion. "Bob. I really like it." The Moosie would be all touched and stuff.

He reached to take the egg from jack. "So, the point is not to break Bob, right?"

Jack was happy to surrender care of the egg to Tyler. "I think we have to nurture him and help him grow as an egg, but for the moment I'll settle for keeping him in one piece," he replied, trying to figure out how they were going to do that. "Maybe he needs a little padded carry bag? High density foam or something."

"We have a week. That's plenty of time to mold and train him," Tyler decided.

He bounced the egg experimentally in his hand. "Breaking him a little might toughen him up. But for now? I think a little bag with lots of tissues or something."

"Not to dismiss Bob's importance as an egg in his own right? But I'm more worried about passing than how he's going to survive out there in the big wide world. And I wouldn't worry," he added, reaching out to tap the egg. "The world will break him soon enough." He shrugged dismissively and grinnned again. "But let's keep him in one piece until next week at least."

"I'll get him to Saturday," Tyler grinned. "Failing because of overenthusiastic parenting would pretty much suck."

"So be careful when you hug him," Jack laughed. "You get him to Saturday, I'll get him through the weekend, and as long as Bob doesn't hatch into a monster between then and next class, we should do okay."

Tyler eyed the egg suspiciously. "Trolls don't lay eggs, do they?"

Jack blinked, looked at the egg, looked at Tyler, then looked back at the egg. "If they do, I don't want to know about it. Maybe we should keep Bob in the fridge, just in case."

"Good idea. He'll probably be easier to be around by the end of the week if he sleeps in there anyhow," Tyler said.

"And if he does break? He won't smell quite so bad." Jack looked down at the egg. "Poor Bob. Stuck with practical parents instead of doting ones."

"He'll thank us for it someday," Tyler said. "But maybe we could dress him up so he feels special."

"A sailor's outfit. And a little bonnet. That's enough to make any egg feel special." Jack paused. "Or possibly give him a complex of some kind."

"No bonnet," Tyler said vehemently. "Bob's probably happier naked." He made a face, remembering the pageant. "Which I guess means he takes after you."

Smirking, Jack said, "I'm so proud of my little boy. Taking after his daddy like that. Naked is the best way to be, unless it's too cold."

"I wonder how eggs would keep in the freezer?" Tyler speculated, mostly to himself.

He took a pen from his bag. "I'm going to write his name on him. Just so he doesn't have an identity crisis."
