Fandom High Holiday Pageant 2006, Friday afternoon, The Auditorium

Once everyone was seated, The Tick walked out onto the stage wearing a keen tux. He was ready to celebrate the holidays in style.

"Welcome, chums, to the 2006 Fandom High Holiday Pageant! This year, we're looking to make the pageant as broad as possible, covering several different holidays with several different methods of educating us all with fun! It's Funducation, not to be confused with Funded Education!"

"On the Holiday Tree of Funducation, information is the presents, and you are the children gathered around, hoping for the Hanukkah Wii of Information, or the X-Mas-Box of Knowledge! Our volunteers are the ornaments, making sure the Tree is shiny and festive! The participating classes are the lights that illuminate with organization and color! And I," Tick said, grinning broadly, "am a jolly man in a blue suit! I am not just your Master of Ceremonies tonight, I am also your Santa of Ceremonies! So please allow me to welcome you to this year's Tree of Funducation, the Holiday Pageant!"

[OOC: Please wait for and then follow the OCD. There is a thread for each performance, and then a Performance and Audience sub-thread for each. Please use the subthreads. Pretty self explanatory. Everyone should know what they're doing and which thread they're doing it in, hopefully. If, for some reason, we have threads that are not pinged into as of really late Friday night, I may get creative and randomly recruit people at the last minute if it doesn't Joss them just to make sure the pageant stands as being complete.

I'd like to say thank you in advance to all of my volunteers and I can't wait to see what you put together!]

Setsuna, reluctantly, stumbled out onto the stage, at first appearing like a dear in headlight...footlights, she supposed...at the audience. And then she took a deep breath, straightened her shoulders and stood strong. She was standing there, dressed like a warrior, with fine weapons and, so help her, an incredibly impressive wingspan. She had nothing to be embarrassed about. She found her mark on the stage, drew her bokken, and struck a ready position, waiting for the cue she expected from the twins.

They waited for both to be ready in postion before Kaoru strummed the shamisen in a melodic twanging rythme, Hikaru striking the gong to signal Ranma to begin.

Along with the gong strike, the back of the stage lit up, illuminating a pretty pagoda (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pagoda) back drop.

"Once upon a time," Hikaru started off with an amused smile, Kaoru continuing the melody quietly, "there was a very powerful daimyo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daimyo) with a very beautiful daughter."

Ranma starts his dance. He's sort of freaking out so much that he can only pay attention to doing the dance. He hears nothing of the narration.

Setsuna, hearing the twin's narrative of Ranma's dance, had to duck her head and bite her lip to keep from snickering at the idea of Ranma being described as the beautiful daughter of a powerful daimyo. She was going to tease him so much about this.

She waited patiently for the dance to finish and the twins to introduce her fighting demonstration. Some of the urge to giggle died away, though, watching Ranma...damn it all, he did look pretty...

"This daimyo, being very influential, had a large standing army of samurai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai) and foot soldiers under his command." Hikaru struck the gong again, signaling for Setsuna with a grin.

Hm? Setsuna turned toward them with an expression of surprise at first; she didn't think they would try to incorperate both performances into a narrative. But it worked quite nicely, really, so, the attention shifted to her, she did a quick little demonstration of sword swings and a little bit of flight. She vaguely wondered how they were going to explain how the daimyo had winged samurai, but they probably forgot that she was planning to use them to spruce up her demonstration. Oh well. It was all quite poorly planned in general, really...

He's still dancing, and he's even got his eyes closed in focus. Or in being too nervous to look at the audience.

"One afternoon, the Daimyo's daughter was walking through her's father's castle gardens and crossed the path of one of his Samurai under a black locust (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_locust)." Hikaru continued. Kaoru played a different melody with this change in story, something a little lighter.

Setsuna was really confused as to what was going on; this was nothing like what they had planned. But, with a spin of her bokken, she played along, holding at her hips as she did when in repose from fighting, to play the samurai under the tree.

Ranma was finally listening to the words, and as the echoed in his head, he took them as directions and followed along, fanning himself lightly as he passed Setsuna.

Hikaru cracked a smile. This was going far smoother than he had expected.
"The girl and the samurai spoke for the first time under that black locust. He had noticed that she took walks through the gardens often, but had never been able to speak with her." He pinged the gong softly.

Setsuna, never really very good at this acting thing unless she was doing it to prevent herself from being killed, scratched at her ear a little and her wings were sort of stretching out boredly, because this part of the narrative didn't really give her much to do.

Ranma looks vaguely in Setsuna's direction. He seems a bit out of it as he twirls his fan gently.

Kaoru's strumming changed a bit, seemingly more dramatic.
"Unfortunatly for the two, the samurai was forced into war after a few more explicit exchanges with the girl."
"You know, the kind you find in romance novels." Kaoru added with a solid nod and wink.
Hikaru struck the gong a lot harder this time, trying to give Setsuna the impression that she should do something neat right now.

Setsuna was too busy being bugged-eyed and freaking out over the turn the narrative had taken.

"What?" she shrieked, completely breaking the character she didn't even know she was playing, and turning to the twins with a look of red-faced incredulousness. Her hands were tight fists on her bokken and her face was quite red. "Nothing explicit happened! If I'm a samurai, I'm good, decent samurai who doesn't do expicit things to his...his...daiymo's daughter...." Her rant lost a little bit of steam as her eyes were caught on Ranma's fluttering fan and then drifted over and caught a glimpse of him there. Eeeeeeeep. Her eyes widened and she snapped her head back to the twins.

"And the war I'm going into is war against two particular, twin nations spreading foul, viscious, scandelous lies about my honourable reputation!" She swung a bokken around and settled into a threatening position toward them.

Well, they couldn't have expected that to go well forever.
Kaoru grabbed the base of the Shamisen and held pointed it right back at Setsuna with a smug smirk, Hikaru joining him with the gong mallet in one hand and microphone in the other.
"And they had good reason for their accusations! The samurai and the girl met under that same tree for each exchange. It wasn't hard to start rumors." Hikaru smirked, his main focus at the moment was to provoke her enough to do something interesting for their audience.

Ranma finally opens his eyes and regrets it. So many people! What is the...? He spins a bit, the kimono following. //What's happenin'...?//

"The black locust is in a very accomidating spot, one that, if you would notice, is right in a spot of the courtyard that is quite visible from most parts of the palace and therefor quite an acceptable location for a proper, polite, and non-questionable rendevous!"

"I won't accept such slander! I must protect the honour of my daimyo and defend the innocence of his daughter!"

And she pulled back her bokken and charged for the twins.

...Maybe she was getting into this acting and assuming a roll thing a little more than she thought she was.

The twins stood their ground for a good few moments, "And yet, the twin forces stand firmly behind their claims! Despite the winged samurai's threats!" They held their instruments taught and ready to strike right back and defend not only their accusations, but their bodies. If that failed, they were prepared to make a quick duck and roll.

"Hi-yaahh!" Setsuna swung both her bokken drataticly, one for each of her enemies.

Oh god! She was serious!

Both twins eeped a little before leaping out of the way, one to each side in a frantic jump roll-something they'd thankfully learned from Honey-sempai. The instruments were tossed at Setsuna in place of them, Hikaru going right back to his mic once he'd gotten back to his feet.
"And we would also like to remind certain samurai that they should practice caution when they swing those things!"
Kaoru had also ended up back on his feet, remaining in a crouched position in case she decided to swing again.

Ranma takes her arm and tugs lightly, his face lost and a bit helpless. //What're ya doin'..?// To the audience the said gesture must look a lot like the princess fawning at the side of her protective samurai.

Setsuna turned sharply toward the light touch on her arm. And then she saw Ranma there in her...his! his kimono and those pleading, helpless eyes...and her breath caught a bit...

Re: Emperor's Birthday: Performance

The twins took this opportunity to direct the story away from them and back to the main focus.

"After slaying the enemies of the twin nations," Hikaru turned to Kaoru who promptly flopped to his side and let out a rather abrupt 'ow', "the samurai met his fair maiden on the battle feild, where they exchanged words of undying love and devotion, never expecting the surprise coming toward them from the sky."

Hikaru had leapt far enough to the side of the stage that he could easily manipulate any sort of ropes tied there. "A demon attacked the two from above, aiming itself directly at the girl." He said, tugging at some of the ropes that held the typical bags of sand above a stage Cuz all stages NEED them.

[identity profile] bound2blade.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Setsuna was ready to throw another hissy fit at the twins. "We are not exchanging words of undying lo--"

But there was something flying at her from above. Not so much flying, really, as it was falling, and her action impulses kicked back in. She swiped Ranma up her arms as she jumped back slightly wings flapping as she took flight to move them both out of the way. She set Ranma back down quickly, and dove toward 'attacking demon' with her bokken ready to strike.
