Fandom High Holiday Pageant 2006, Friday afternoon, The Auditorium

Once everyone was seated, The Tick walked out onto the stage wearing a keen tux. He was ready to celebrate the holidays in style.

"Welcome, chums, to the 2006 Fandom High Holiday Pageant! This year, we're looking to make the pageant as broad as possible, covering several different holidays with several different methods of educating us all with fun! It's Funducation, not to be confused with Funded Education!"

"On the Holiday Tree of Funducation, information is the presents, and you are the children gathered around, hoping for the Hanukkah Wii of Information, or the X-Mas-Box of Knowledge! Our volunteers are the ornaments, making sure the Tree is shiny and festive! The participating classes are the lights that illuminate with organization and color! And I," Tick said, grinning broadly, "am a jolly man in a blue suit! I am not just your Master of Ceremonies tonight, I am also your Santa of Ceremonies! So please allow me to welcome you to this year's Tree of Funducation, the Holiday Pageant!"

[OOC: Please wait for and then follow the OCD. There is a thread for each performance, and then a Performance and Audience sub-thread for each. Please use the subthreads. Pretty self explanatory. Everyone should know what they're doing and which thread they're doing it in, hopefully. If, for some reason, we have threads that are not pinged into as of really late Friday night, I may get creative and randomly recruit people at the last minute if it doesn't Joss them just to make sure the pageant stands as being complete.

I'd like to say thank you in advance to all of my volunteers and I can't wait to see what you put together!]

Well, the acting class plus a few extras. Nadia came out to sing, hopefully with a Pip playing guitar, so that the class had something to perform to.

John was there...dressed as a girl. Yeah, it didn't get any weirder to put a dress on but it scared him to discover how used to it he was becoming. Only thing, he hadn't completely taken off his dreidel costume so he still had a pointy hat on.

Angela was trying not to pace or forget anything she had to do. She fiddled with her T-shirt's long sleeves as she waited for the music to start.

Given John's presence, Conner felt a little bit better about having to wear a frilly apron.

Except that he was still all glittery. He'd gotten the cube-slime off of him, but the glitter was kind of stubborn.

He wasn't exactly part of the class, but Pip was never one to turn down a request from a friend. He started to play, stopped for a moment to adjust the tuning on his guitar, and began to play.

John might've started to sway, just to see if the others would join in. Like the Temptations, only not.

Nadia started to sing:

Amber called her uncle, said "We're up here for the holiday
Jane and I were having Solstice, now we need a place to stay"
And her Christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang Mary on a tree
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three
He told his niece, "It's Christmas eve, I know our life is not your style"
She said, "Christmas is like Solstice, and we miss you and it's been awhile"

Briar was very glad that he didn't actually have to sing his part and kind of swayed in the background with John.

Zero shoved her troupe of dancing pagans and Christians out onto the stage, then followed, doing her best to look pagan. Astonishingly, it was not very hard. Though the effect might be somewhat confused by her shirt, which was completely covered in silver safety pins. Some audience members might recognize it from the recital.

Wow, these stage lights were kind of hot...

In the background, in his apron and glitter, there was Conner, doing what he thought was an interpretive, artsy version of hanging Mary on a tree. Unfortunately, his gestures were so interpretive and pseudo-artsy that it looked like the wrong kind of hanging.

Jake was really rocking the Christian 'deer caught in the headlights' look. Being on stage in front of lots of people who were staring at him was terrifying.

He was going to need lots of coffee after this.

Angela looked almost as deer-in-the headlights as Jake did. She blinked, swallowed, and mimed making a phone call.

And it was chorus time!

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddesses.

and into verse two,

The food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch
Till Timmy turned to Amber and said, "Is it true that you're a witch?"
His mom jumped up and said, "The pies are burning," and she hit the kitchen
And it was Jane who spoke, she said, "It's true, your cousin's not a Christian"
"But we love trees, we love the snow, the friends we have, the world we share
And you find magic from your God, and we find magic everywhere"

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And where does magic come from, I think magic's in the learning
Cause now when Christians sit with Pagans only pumpkin pies are burning

Upon hearing his character's name, John did quick impressions of a tree, snow (which required him throwing rice at the audience) and quickly hugging anyone who might've wanted a hug.

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Conner was supposed to jump up, but again with the "interpretive" thing he did a high back somersault instead, flailing his arms impressively all the while to convey his "ZOMGBURNINGPIES" panic.

When he hit the ground, he ran around in the background flailing some more.

Angela tried to look witchy, but the effect was spoiled when she gave Johnina a hug.

And then she gave Conner one too, for good measure.

The twins, clad in kimono with matching t-shirts thrown over that had "Timmy" written across the fronts, kinda swayed around on stage trying to look 'youthful'.

Hamlet hadn't gotten the memo whether he was supposed to be a Christian or a Pagan in the background for this particular show, so he'd decided to dress half-and-half: a crucifix and a WWJD bracelet on one side of his costume, a pointed star and an ankh on the other. And as always, black clothes. Lots and lots of black.

In the background, he tried to do his very best "I am a pie which happens to be on fire. Please put me out before I burn down your house" interpretive dance.

Parker facepalmed and really hoped Conner and Angela would take good care of Zero. And yes, she got it all on tape. Because John in a dress has to be recorded whenever it happens.

Peter was concerned about Zero, but figured she was just going from a bizarre and troublesome script or something.
