Fandom High Holiday Pageant 2006, Friday afternoon, The Auditorium

Once everyone was seated, The Tick walked out onto the stage wearing a keen tux. He was ready to celebrate the holidays in style.

"Welcome, chums, to the 2006 Fandom High Holiday Pageant! This year, we're looking to make the pageant as broad as possible, covering several different holidays with several different methods of educating us all with fun! It's Funducation, not to be confused with Funded Education!"

"On the Holiday Tree of Funducation, information is the presents, and you are the children gathered around, hoping for the Hanukkah Wii of Information, or the X-Mas-Box of Knowledge! Our volunteers are the ornaments, making sure the Tree is shiny and festive! The participating classes are the lights that illuminate with organization and color! And I," Tick said, grinning broadly, "am a jolly man in a blue suit! I am not just your Master of Ceremonies tonight, I am also your Santa of Ceremonies! So please allow me to welcome you to this year's Tree of Funducation, the Holiday Pageant!"

[OOC: Please wait for and then follow the OCD. There is a thread for each performance, and then a Performance and Audience sub-thread for each. Please use the subthreads. Pretty self explanatory. Everyone should know what they're doing and which thread they're doing it in, hopefully. If, for some reason, we have threads that are not pinged into as of really late Friday night, I may get creative and randomly recruit people at the last minute if it doesn't Joss them just to make sure the pageant stands as being complete.

I'd like to say thank you in advance to all of my volunteers and I can't wait to see what you put together!]

Conner was too busy attempting to "extinguish" Hamlet to notice whether or not the lights were hot.

Besides, his ears had been burning since before the song had even started so it was unlikely he'd have noticed anyway.

And that would be about when the heat of the lights baking her safety pins really got to Zero and she passed out, collapsing as if in slow motion.

Nadia? Didn't notice and kept singing.

When Amber tried to do the dishes, her aunt said, "Really, no, don't bother"
Amber's uncle saw how Amber looked like Tim and like her father
He thought about his brother, how they hadn't spoken in a year
He thought he'd call him up and say, "It's Christmas and your daughter's here"
He thought of fathers, sons and brothers, saw his own son tug his sleeve saying
"Can I be a Pagan?" Dad said, "We'll discuss it when they leave"

So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold

Angela, however, did notice. She paused in her happy-Christmas-Pagan-dinner miming and went over to Zero.

She tried to make it look like part of the song as she pinched Zero, trying to wake her, and then attempted to drag Zero offstage. Slooowly. Zero was tiny, but Angela was not exactly Hulk Hogan. She gestured, trying to make it look like part of the dance and get one of the guys to help her.

Conner was supposed to be telling Angela not to bother with the dishes now anyway, right?

He jogged her way, making shooing motions as he did, and really hoping she didn't take it wrong.

"Get Zero," Angela hissed through a smile, which is a pretty neat trick. "I think she needs water."

Zero? Remained unconscious.

"Is there water anywhere?" Conner tried to mutter back through the corner of his mouth as he scooped her up and tried to sort of make it look like he was carrying a stack of dirty dishes.

Blindingly shiny and -- ow -- hot to the touch dirty dishes, granted.

No offense to Zero, of course.

Zero revived enough to mumble, "We'll edit that out in post," and then she was out again.

Angela touched Zero's forehead -- hot! -- before spinning away.

She mouthed. "Maybe backstage?" at Conner, trying to look like she was talking about the dishes.

Hamlet had stopped miming being on fire, and had taken off his cross-and-ankh jacket to carry some plates with. Partially because the plates were hot, partially because black clothing seemed to heat up a lot under stage lights.

He motioned to Angela with his head towards one of the tables backstage. "I think there may be a pitcher back there," he mouthed.

Conner was really dancing now, not so much by design as by accident, in his attempts to keep from getting burned on the safety pins. He attempted to flop Zero's hand around in some representation of a dishcloth as he made for the wings.

It was slow going, since the safety pins were blinding him.

Angela twirled backstage, trying to look somehow pagan, and found a pitcher of water.

She waited until Zero and Conner were almost to the wings and then splashed some water onto Zero, and the safety pins.

Zero woke up, sputtering. "Five more minutes, Mum!"
