Library [12/07]

Rory toddled into the library and planted herself behind the desk, as per usual.

However, today, she had more books than anyone really needed ever.

Okay, yeah, she wasn't awake enough to study yet. But there was coffee.

Marginally more awake, Rory was now sharpening her pencils.

And now? Deep in studying.

Seriously, seriously absorbed in her books.

So absorbed, she barely paused in reviewing her notes long enough to unwrap her Pop Tart.

Boyfriend was still not feeling good, so no one was around to tell her to eat better! Yay!

Aaaaaaaaaand back to studying.

Weiss strolled into the library looking for some weekend reading. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance or something. Then he saw Rory, and he thought distracting her would be far more interesting.

"You sure that amount of studying is healthy?" Weiss asked, jumping up to sit on the circulation desk.

"It's not only healthy," said Rory, turning a page, "it's the best philosophy, really."

"I always thought the best philosophy was 'I think therefore I am," Weiss said. "Or maybe, 'Don't pet a burning dog.'"

"Also good philosophies," Rory agreed, "but finals are nearly upon us!"

"Yeah. I've been sekrit stealth studying. Got some stuff done this weekend while not being attacked by trolls in LA."

"Lucky," she said. "I holed up in here for most of it, but my boyfriend killed his foot."

"Boyfriend, huh? Let me guess. Male... a little weird... not me." He grinned. "How'd I do?"

"You're a genius," Rory congratulated. "Do you know Bridge Carson?"

"We're both TAs in Spies and Spying, but we've never really talked."

"Well, that'd be him," she said with a shrug. "You're a TA for Spying? Impressive."

"Yeah. I want to join the CIA someday. Serve my country. I think it'd be cool."

"Why the CIA and not the FBI?" Rory wondered. "Like travel?"

"I speak French and I'm working on German," Weiss said. "But yeah. See other countries, enjoy their cities, apprehend their terrorists."

Rory smiled. "French, German, Spanish, Farsi, Portuguese and Japanese over here, and I read a ton more than that. My pronounciation just sucks. This school is really, really good for that sort of thing."

"Okay, you're like a genius. The middle of the pack squad over here is struggling with three languages."

And that would be blushing. "Well, technically...."

She shook her head. "But yeah, it's all just about knowing the roots and applying yourself. And that's a really cool career idea. Ooh, ooh, I bet in the future, when I'm covering stories overseas, I'll have to interview you for stuff."

"Oh, I plan to be so good at what I do, the United States Government won't even verify my existence," Weiss joked. "Nah. That'd be cool, actually."

"Oh, I'd keep you confidential. Or I'd create an alias in my article for you. Maybe something really cool like...Pat Markman," Rory decided. "That's a good, nondescript name."

"And non-gender specific," Weiss pointed out. "I could be Britney Sisto for all we know."

Woe, for Rory is in Ethics.

But now she's back and back into her books.

I am AFK until like 10 EST! Woe! *apologizes madly*
