FH Library, 12/06

It had been a long time since Angela had opened the library.

She wondered if the books missed her. In Fandom, they just might.

Cameron flailed. "Only once!"

Angela wasn't letting this go. "Looking for the perfect evening dress?" she asked. "Or are you interested in, like, new trends in waxing?"

Crossing his arms, Cameron rolled his eyes. "Hardly."

Angela rolled her eyes right back at Cam. "I do not want to know if things with Veronica are lacking, or whatever."

"They're not! Well okay, I guess they're lacking in the sense that she's across the country," he took a breath. "But beside that... we really should change the topic."

"California's a long way, but topic changed," Angela said, looking relieved. "So did you send in your Academy application yet?"

"You mean the exams?" he asked and nodded. "I did those when I went home for Thanksgiving. So now there's nothing left to do for me but wait for the results to come in."

"I didn't know exactly how it worked," Angela shrugged. "Good luck, anyhow. Do you think you did okay?"

Cameron nodded. "Everyone sounded pretty positive so yeah, I think I've got a shot," he said with a smile. "How about your future plans?"

"I got my application and writing portfolio off to the schools I'm looking at while I was home," Angela said proudly. "University of New York was my favorite, but the tuition's kind of high so I don't know if I'll be able to go."

She grinned."It's the waiting game."

"I hate waiting," he sulked. "So you're staying on the East Coast?"

"Probably," Angela confirmed. "I sent an application to Evergreen State in Oregon? But I don't know if I'd really like being that far from home."

Cameron nodded. "I understand. I'm used to it now, but it felt weird at first being so far from my family."

"It's not even like I go home that often, I just kind of like knowing they're there," Angela said. "Do you ever get back home?"

"Makes sense. You know that if you want to visit, you can do it with little hassled. I don't get to see them as much as I'd like. I think I hadn't seen them since end May?" he tried to remember.

"I think mine would drive to school and bodily track me down if I tried to stay away for six months," Angela said ruefully. "I'd come to campus and my mom would be in my dorm room. Cleaning it."

Cameron laughed. "Oh god, am I glad that hasn't happened. My mom would have a heartattack if she even knew a smidgen of what goes on here."

"Same here," Angela confirmed. "They've been here and know a tiny bit, but ... I don't know. I think they filter it."

"I couldn't blame them if they did. It is a bit full on. I've told one of my friends that there are aliens here, but I think he's treating it as some sort of joke," he said.

"My best friend knows about the time-travel thing, and this guy who lives across the street from me went here for, like, five minutes," Angela said. "Mostly they bug me about whether I've been in a spaceship yet."

"Have you?" Cameron asked right away.

Angela shook her head. "I didn't take Anakin's class," she said. "I'm going to Alanna's home world weekend after this one, but I don't know how we're getting there."

"I don't know much about her homeworld," Cameron replied and only barely kept from commenting on how Kawalsky would know. "Hopefully? I don't think you should be allowed to leave Fandom without having been in a spaceship."

"I'll make sure I get a class next semester that has spaceships in it," Angela said solemnly. "Or! Maybe they'd let me stay an extra year if I tell them I've never been in one."

"It's worth a shot," he chuckled. "Or you know, once I own my own spaceship I might be convinced to take you for a spin."
