Interstellar Relations, Monday, 6th Period

Laura stood at the front of the classroom, clad in a bulky grey sweater, her hair having air-dried to a very natural wave. She clutched a coffee cup in one hand as she hugged herself in an effort to keep warm. It might have been readily apparent that she hadn’t been resting well.

“Good morning,” she said, forcing a presidential smile. “I’m glad to see each of you made it through the weekend safely.” She didn’t mention that she had spent the weekend holed up in her apartment, trying to make sense out of the reality she found herself in. Logic and order had eventually won out – but not before it had caused her a few sleepless nights.

“Because we didn’t get everything done, we’ll be continuing from last week’s group activity. Well, with one slight alteration: As some of you might have guessed, the Cylons have followed the Colonials to Earth. They are not firing yet; their major demand is that you turn over the Colonial fleet. Beyond this, they say they only come in peace. It is up to you to determine your policy and help shape the policy of the galaxy.”

A wry grin twitched at the corners of her lips, lighting shadowed eyes. “No pressure, right?” Taking a sip of her coffee, she stood in silence, regarding them for a moment. “Okay, kids. Go to it.”

"We didn't really defeat them!" Anders was scrambling very hard to recall his history at this point. "There was an armistice, after both sides got all worn to exhaustion."

He ran his fingers through his hair, thinking. "Fuel . . . they use the same stuff we do, um, tylium? Which I don't think you guys have here so unless they can adapt something they're frakked. We could rupture our fuel tanks, though, um, scuttle the ships so they can't take our resources. Which means you guys'd be stuck with us. Is that gonna be a problem?"

"We were planning on doing that anyway," Parker said absently. "Not that you heard it from me, because the Secretary of State doesn't blab. It was just a matter of security and logistics at this point." She frowned, and nodded. "Bare beginnnings of a plan, then. And ... we may not be *that* defenseless. Depending on which Earth in which dimension your Cylons show up in."

"Don't confuse me like that, Parker," Anders scolded teasingly. "And I won't say a word, but I'll work it into my planning. Let me get whatever information I can about the Cylon defenses together, and work it out with your military people. Maybe you'll be able to come up with something they won't expect."

"We can always throw trolls at them, worst case scenario," Parker said, grinning. "And good, you do that. Sub rosa for now, of course. We're still trying to figure out how to keep Congress from freaking out."

"Good luck with that," Anders laughed. "Congress, I mean, not the trolls. Wow, now I'd love to see that showdown. Although the Cylons might have the advantage, with the metal thing."
