Isabel made it to the library on time, sipping a hot chocolate to take away the chill of the air.

"Don't tell me. I wouldn't be able to resist getting it for you, and you in red leather, especially if there's not much of it, would be the death of me." He grinned at her. "There's only so much my poor heart can take."

"Well then call the cardiologist," Isabel laughed. "I might have to see if Sam wants to borrow it."

Jack groaned and dropped his head into his hands. "Like that nothing you gave her for halloween wasn't enough. I am completely doomed." He didn't sound at all unhappy about the prospect, though.

"Consider it my early Christmas gift to you," she said, reaching over to ruffle his hair. "There'll be several more under the Christmas tree."

"I could get used to this," he warned, lifting his head to smile at her. "Lunch, presents, I'm going to be completely spoiled by the end of the year."
