Friday Afternoon Assembly

Josh stood up on the stage, looking distinctly uncomfortable.

It wasn't like someone had given him a microphone and an audience in a while. Not since the whole "secret plan to fight inflation" thing, anyway.

"Welcome to the first game show at Fandom High," he read from his cue card. "Where the questions are just as cracked out as the school." He raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Today we will be vying teachers against students for bragging rights and pie from Jeff, God of Biscuits. The game will be divided into three sections--much like the US government--though the students will be overrepresented because they know that the teachers at this school will kick their butts otherwise with their superior wit and guile."

Josh grinned. "Let the games begin!"

Hikaru turned with a bit of annoyance. "That's not for the public's use!" He pinked and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Hey Setsuna." Kaoru waved from the other side of Matilda.

Setsuna waved back to Kaoru with a little bit of a grin. Rare was the chance where the person blushing and crossing their arms over their chest was her, so she was enjoying it.

"But it's so cute, Hika..ru." Okay, so her attempts to say it again left her blushing after all. Shut up.

Hikaru quirked an eyebrow. Setsuna had said 'cute'... "Well, 'Set-chan' is pretty cute too." His pout tweaks itself into a smirk of amusement.

All the humour, what little there was, drained out of Setsuna's face; she looked even paler than normal as she stiffened. She swallowed. It's okay, it's okay, it's okay. He doesn't know; he had every right to say it because he's only returning it, you should have almost expected it, you stupid girl. Calm down...

She was balling her fists in her laps, sucking in a deep breath. Don't hit him, it's okay, he doesn't know...You should have expected it...

"Don't," she managed to get out stiffly, "ever call me that again, Hikaru. Just don't do it. Only one person is ever, ever allowed to call me that, and you are not that person...."

He watched her sudden transformation and the amusement quickly slipped from him as well. What the hell was wrong with her all of a sudden?!
He bit his lip, trying to hold back the bitter sarcasm he was ready to let go for that rather sudden comment,"Well, excuse me, Sakurazaki-san, but I hope the feeling is mutual."

She lifted her chin in defiance, at first, but then sighed. She didn't have the energy to put up a fight about it, really, when you got right down to it. She was sore, she was tired, and now she was cranky again. "I'm sorry...It...it's nothing personal, really, it's just..." She trailed off, rubbed her face with her hand. She didn't have the energy to explain, either. "I'm sorry..."

Hikaru sighed, grudgingly adding in his own, "Yea, I'm sorry too...even if you weren't so very...particular about it, we don't really know you well enough to say that, ne?" He glanced over to Kaoru and was relieved to see that he'd been busy talking with Matilda and didn't notice the small upset.

"I don't let anyone call me that, except Ojou-sama," Setsuna told him. "And it took me forever to even be comfortable with 'Setsuna,' so..."

"Well, I'm glad we came in at the end of this forever then."

"Don't tell me that you too would have trouble with 'Sakurazaki,' too..."

"Please. It's just nice not to act all stuffy and formal. We get enough of that back home."

"Ah," she said quietly, with a knowledgeable nod, thinking back to when she'd first arrived at Fandom. She was pretty stuffy and formal; probably drove everyone crazy. Man, she'd changed a lot...it never failed to astound her.

"Y'know, I don't think we'd actually have become friends if you guys met me back when I first came here..."

"Is that a regret I hear?" He smirked a little. "Naw, we would have driven you more insane I suspect?"

Setsuna smiled a little at his smirk, and considered it a little more before deciding, "You guys would just be very, very lucky that we can't use our blades outside the salle, that's all I'll say."

"Oh, exciting. We've never had death threats before." He paused. "Wait, I lied. Maybe I mean sincere ones." He recalls a few instances where Tono may have gotten a little over-excited about the 'saftey of his daughter in the midsts of those unseemly twins'-although Tono's idea of inappropriate behavior seemed to include any and all things involving Haruihi and the Twins in the same room...

Setsuna leaned forward, crossing her arms on her knees and looking over and up at Hikaru. She was thinking of leaning back, but, when she put her arms behind her to support her, it really hurt too much, so, after a wince, she went the other way. Her head tilted a little. "I could offer more, if you'd like."

He gave her a bit of an exasperated look and leaned back. "No thanks. Don't miss it that much."

"Awww," a smile broke through her facade, still leaning forward. "You're no fun."

"Well if you're so eager, I may have to visit you some time in the Salle. See how threatening this sword of yours is." He tilted his head against his shoulder and grinned.

Setsuna arched an eyebrow at him. "I do say, Hikaru, do you doubt my skill?"

He lifted his head to brush his bangs back to the other side. "Not at all. I actually think it'd be fun to watch you practice. We have two friends back home in martial arts, Kendo. It's fun to watch them, and I can only assume you'd be just as passionate."

Just as? Setsuna was doubtful. "I'm down there all the time, y'know; you're always welcome to stop by. Or maybe the next time I head down there, I'll let you know and you can tag along?"

She smirked a little. "But if you really want a good show, make sure you bring Alphonse along."

He nods, "If I can drag him out of that room, I'll try to bring him with."
