Friday Afternoon Assembly

Josh stood up on the stage, looking distinctly uncomfortable.

It wasn't like someone had given him a microphone and an audience in a while. Not since the whole "secret plan to fight inflation" thing, anyway.

"Welcome to the first game show at Fandom High," he read from his cue card. "Where the questions are just as cracked out as the school." He raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Today we will be vying teachers against students for bragging rights and pie from Jeff, God of Biscuits. The game will be divided into three sections--much like the US government--though the students will be overrepresented because they know that the teachers at this school will kick their butts otherwise with their superior wit and guile."

Josh grinned. "Let the games begin!"

"Egg," Yomiko said decisively. "Some bird didn't just suddenly mutate into a chicken. It had to hatch from an egg already evolved into a chicken." She glanced at the Doctor and said, "...right?"

"Egg," the Doctor nodded. "As eggs existed long before chickens. More things come from eggs than chickens. Dinosaurs, just to name the obvious. Waaaay older than chickens."

The Doctor turned to Yomiko. "Cheese. Unless the question is, in fact, quess who wrote that question, in which case the answer is 'the squirrels'."

Yomiko was frowning. "Does that mean we got the last one right or wrong?"

She shook her head to clear it, then said, "While I agree the cheese thing is very likely--at least, more than Professor Vader getting bitten through all that body armor he likes to wear--I suspect it's the thing about the squirrels and the duck. I sense a theme."

"Oh, right. Sticking to theme is important. The squirrels and the duck answer is very likely. I agree," the Doctor said.

"The next section will likely be some sort of battle royale between people dressed as the squirrels and the duck," she added. Yomiko didn't watch much TV, but for some reason this whole fiasco reminded her of the game shows on TV back home.

The Doctor blinked. "I... suppose that's possible as well."

"Well, it would fit the theme..."

"Fair enough." Yomiko turned to Josh and asked, "Is the answer squirrels?"
