Friday Afternoon Assembly

Josh stood up on the stage, looking distinctly uncomfortable.

It wasn't like someone had given him a microphone and an audience in a while. Not since the whole "secret plan to fight inflation" thing, anyway.

"Welcome to the first game show at Fandom High," he read from his cue card. "Where the questions are just as cracked out as the school." He raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Today we will be vying teachers against students for bragging rights and pie from Jeff, God of Biscuits. The game will be divided into three sections--much like the US government--though the students will be overrepresented because they know that the teachers at this school will kick their butts otherwise with their superior wit and guile."

Josh grinned. "Let the games begin!"

"They aren't!" Willow said. "Sure the writing's a little weird but they don't have opposable thumbs! They do the best they can! Though maybe the idea is meant to be purely hypothetical for the competition? Like when people ask what books you'd bring with you on a deserted island, even though the odds of you getting the chance to pack for that are really pretty small?"

"But he said there's a right answer," Molly said and then thought of something that was really not so good. "You don't think they'll turn us into whatever we answer, do you?"

"I think that's our safest answer," Molly agreed with much nodding. "Do you want to say, or should I?"

Molly giggled and then turned to Josh. "Mr. Lyman, we've decided that our answer is weetiny bunnies," she said, speaking so that everyone could hear. "Because if we end up getting turned into something, we'd rather not have people trying to squish us or getting mad at us for any notes we might end up writing for the radio."

Josh grinned and flipped the card over. "Apparently the correct answer is 'radio squirrels' because 'We r in ur assembly stealin ur questionz'." Josh blinked. "I have no idea what that means."

He flipped to the next card. "Next question! What came first: the chicken or the egg?"

"Mr. Lyman?" Willow waved to get his attention. "We're going to go with egg, and hope not to get it on our faces."

Josh smiled and flipped the card over, then frowned. "The squirrels strike again. Apparently the correct response is 'chickenz r 2 close 2 stupid duckz 'n should be killinated.' Harsh."

He quickly put that card away. "Final question in our trivia round. Which is more likely to happen: the park being all covered in cheese for no apparent reason, Darth Vader getting bit by a gremlin and wearing a red feather boa, or that damn stupid hotel duck learning not to mess with the clearly superior species of squirrels?" He blinked. "Guess who wrote that question."

Molly turned to Willow again. "It's got to be the last one," she said.

Willow nodded. "Granted my usual reaction would be to go with cheese since yummy, but I think you're right about this one."

"Right," Molly said and turned to Josh again. "We are going to go with the third option, Mr. Lyman. The 'damn stupid hotel duck learning not to mess with the clearly superior species of squirrels'."

Josh flipped the card over. "Correct. And, apparently 'vengeance will be ours, oh yes.' Well done, ladies."
