Coffee, donuts and juice were set on a table at the front of the class, and Elliot handed out the lab as the students walked in.

"Hey, guys. Today we're going to learn about blood types, which is kind of like DNA but with training wheels on, in that they used to be used for identification back in the dark ages before we had DNA testing. Or, you know, 15 years ago.

"In the human population, there are four major blood types -- O, A, B and AB, and then each can be Rh-negative or Rh positive. In a typical human population, roughly a third each will be A positive and O positive, and the other six groups will split the final third."

Elliot continued with her lecture, explaining antigens, transfusions, and other factors relating to blood type.

"Two activities today, one serious -- well, graded, anyhow -- and one completely goofy. First, I want you to pair up and do one of the activities in your lab handouts. It's your choice whether you do the one with the baby or the one with the murder.

Second, if you have time I want you to look at this handout about the Japanese blood type theory of personality and see how it applies to yourself. There's a test on the bench that will let you type your own blood if you don't know. Like, I'm AB, which makes me, 'Cool, controlled, rational. Sociable and popular. Empathic.' Huh.

"That's it for today, so please get to work."

"I share a blood type with Hitler??????"

Willow was taking that news about as well as you'd expect.

Elliot looked over Willow's shoulder at the results. "And Nixon. And Britney Spears." She shuddered, then scanned the list of names for some sign of hope. "Alan Alda seems like a nice guy?"

"Are we sure blood type can't be changed?" Willow asked. "I think I'd look just as nice in a B, for instance."

Elliot squinted into the distance. "I don't think so? If you tried, like with that Keith Richards thing where he gets all his blood transfused, you'd just get incredibly sick. Some cancers will do it, but that isn't much better."

She put a hand on Willow's shoulder. "Would it help if I said it's like astrology and not to take it seriously?"

"I guess it could be worse," Willow said, philosophically. "It could've included the current President Bush, instead of the other one."

Elliot laughed. "Good way to look at it."

Teddy raised his hand. "Do we have to type our blood?"

"Nope," Elliot said. "It's an optional activity if you have time after the lab. It can be good to know in an emergency, though."

Isabel raised an eyebrow as she tried to type her blood. She supposed she shouldn't be surprised that it didn't type properly since it didn't even look normal in the microscope. (http://stripedwall.com/cpg/albums/tv/roswell/101/roswell1x01_0177.jpg)

"What do you have?" Parker asked, having typed her and come up with the universal receiver. "A, B, AB, O?"

"Color me shocked," she snickered. "Actually I think I'm more type ET."

Parker tilted her head. "What? Wait, no kind of human blood type at all?"

"Look at this," Isabel said pointing at the microscope. "And tell me if that looks human to you. This is why we had to have Alex substitute his blood for Max's when Max got in a car accident."

Parker looked through the microscope, and shook her head. "Okay, that's more bizarre than any medical tech is going to ever be able to handle. They'll think they mixed your blood with bleach or window cleaner to get that." She frowned, folding her arms and stepping away. "Hey. If you get hurt, who the hell do we get to give you a blood transfusion? Max?"

"I guess. Or Michael. Or even Lonnie," she said wrinkling her nose. "Not that I'd want that bitch's blood anywhere near mine. I suppose the trick is to not get hurt that bad."

"And a double dose of agreement on that." Parker frowned, then shook her head. "MedFlight it is. Or Bel shimmering you to New Mexico, if it's necessary. Although I like the scenario where you don't get hurt at all best."

"Oh that would go over well," she said with a wry laugh. "I can just imagine Bel shimmering me into the backroom of the Crashdown. There's not enough cypress oil in the world to calm Maria down. So for everyone's sake, I'll just avoid getting hurt." Isabel looked at the microscope one last time then pulled the slides off and rinsed them off in the sink. "Lonnie and I wound up having a little talk on Friday night. I don't think she'll be coming back soon."

"Talk? Did this involve curse words, or kicking her ass?" Parker folded her arms. "And did you have back-up on this talk, I sincerely hope?"

"A little of both actually. And it was hard to have back-up considering the whole conversation took place up here," Isabel said, tapping her head.

Blinking, Parker said, "Okay, yeah, that's a good reason not to call for help. But you got her out of there?" Her smile widened in delight. "Of course you did. She should've known better than to try. What the hell was she after, anyway?"

"She's gone," she nodded. "And if she's smart, she's gotten out of town as well. I think she was just looking to cause trouble. She was pissed at Max and thought that by hurting me, she could hurt him. Too bad at this particular moment in time Max could probably care less about what happens to me."

"He's a schmuck, but I doubt he's *that* much of a schmuck," Parker said. "I think he'd want to know that Lonnie made a try at hurting you. And weren't you going to start sharing more crap with him?"

Isabel sighed, "Yes, I do need to tell him. I'm just not sure I'm ready to call. My luck he'll think it's my fault Lonnie came to town."
