Criminal Justice [first period, Tuesday 11/14]

Students had been handwave alerted to the fact that the class would be held in the Danger Shop today, and so V was waiting for them when they all filed in.

"Good morning," V said as the simulation immediately placed them in the spacious, white lobby of a building. "Today, we'll be doing a tactical simulation. You and the partner you chose last week have a mission: to find the control room at the top of the tower. In it, there is a ticking device, which will have quite an impact on the entire city if you don't stop it. And no, the lifts aren't working. Your mission, young ones, is to make your way to the control room while dodging guards and personnel, and disengage the device using only your available resources, and to do so by the end of the period."

He tilted his head. "And for now, that means wits and no weapons, though you all do get maps of the building. Oh, and a final thing. The building is not empty. This is a business. The civilians haven't any idea what's going on, though, and you mustn't panic them. You may, however, ask them for assistance in such a way as to not alert them to the situation."

V clapped his hands once, and then retreated to fully start the simulation. He didn't want to be in it, if old friends showed up.

"Do you think the girl downstairs would be as impressed if I blew off my hand?" Luke asked.

"Probably not, no," Peter replied. "Unless you saved her life while you were at it?"

Luke looked like he was considering this as a valid argument. "Maybe."

Peter chuckled. "Come here and worry about the pretty girl later, you're better with technology than I am."

Luke nodded, then gave the device a more intense look. "Okay," he said, all business. "This isn't all that complicated." He picked up the pliers and examined the wires. "This will deactivate it."

He clipped the correct wire with a small smile. "Piece of rhyscate."

Peter waited for a second then blnked. "Wow, brilliant job. See, that? I bet the pretty girl would be impressed with."

Luke beamed. "You think?"

Peter laughed. "Rescue mission without getting her shot at. Sounds like a success in my book."

Luke looked around the room, then bounced on his toes. "Bring her back!" he demanded to the world at large.
