Students had been ~~handwave~~ alerted to the fact that the class would be held in the Danger Shop today, and so V was waiting for them when they all filed in.

"Good morning," V said as the simulation immediately placed them in the spacious, white lobby of a building. "Today, we'll be doing a tactical simulation. You and the partner you chose last week have a mission: to find the control room at the top of the tower. In it, there is a ticking device, which will have quite an impact on the entire city if you don't stop it. And no, the lifts aren't working. Your mission, young ones, is to make your way to the control room while dodging guards and personnel, and disengage the device using only your available resources, and to do so by the end of the period."

He tilted his head. "And for now, that means wits and no weapons, though you all do get maps of the building. Oh, and a final thing. The building is not empty. This is a business. The civilians haven't any idea what's going on, though, and you mustn't panic them. You may, however, ask them for assistance in such a way as to not alert them to the situation."

V clapped his hands once, and then retreated to fully start the simulation. He didn't want to be in it, if old friends showed up.

Bel peered at the bomb. "Fifty-fifty chance?" he said. "We cut one and I shimmer us out and we wait to see if it blows up or not?"

Alanna studied the bomb. "Yeah, unless you have some previously unknown bomb making/unmaking skills, that's the only way I can see. What happens if we cut both?"

"No clue," Bel said. "What if I just shimmer with it and drop it somewhere in the middle of the ocean?"

"And no one gets hurt." Alanna concluded. "Maybe middle of a volcano instead?"

"Might make it erupt," Bel said. "But I'll pick a remote one or something, that'll work. Or, better yet, the middle of the Antarctic." He gingerly put his hands on the bomb.

"I'll wait here." Alanna informed him.

"Fine, fine," Bel said. He shimmered out of the Danger Room, and reappeared a few minutes later shivering uncontrollably. "There might be a penguin or two who is unhappy," he said, "but the bomb is gone." He rubbed his arms, trying to get warm again.

"Whad's a penguin?" Alanna asked and concentrated for a second before her fingers began to glow purple and she offered the hand to Bel.

"It's a kind of bird," Bel said. "Black and white. Waddles. Likes the cold." He put his hands up to Alanna's, warming them.

Alanna got an image of a black and white duck walking around in a snow drift. "Oh." She pushed a bit of her Gift at Bel. "Whad's dext?"

"I guess we're done," Bel said. "Go us. We saved the building and inconvenienced a few penguins."

"Pod penguins." Alanna said not-really-sadly.
