Rory bustled sleepily into the library with her laptop, coffee, and a special and very sleepy visitor in her bag.

She was hoping no one would really notice that last one.

Rory was barely awake, and sipping at her coffee in an effort to wake up.

The bag that totally didn't have a puppy in it was making sleeping puppy-type noises. But that would be silly, since there was no sleping puppy in it.

Rory was slightly more awake, though the contents (contents? what contents?) of her bag were not. She was typing away on her laptop.

Rory had nearly finished all her homework and was hard at work on her college applications, which needed to be turned in very soon.

The puppy that didn't exist was being very well-behaved and sitting under the desk out of his bag, looking around curiously.

Rory might have seemed to be moving oddly.

This was because she was patting a non-existant puppy with her foot under the desk.

The library is closed unless you work there, or unless you belong to someone who works there and are curled up under a desk with a baby bottle of red liquid.

The nonexistant puppy was viciously attacking Rory's shoe under the table. She was just glad she didn't really like them.

Woe, for Rory (and the puppy who didn't exist) went off to Ethics. Perhaps someone else could help you?

Rory, who had in fact dropped off the puppy that didn't exist in her room before heading to class, had retrieved him for her last period in the library.

The only reason this might have been noticeable was because she was hugging a bright pink, somewhat squirmy doggie tote.

School and work are stupid. I have a meeting with my counselor, but I should be on through class, and then I disappear for a bit after 5 EDT.

John wandered in, too wound up to stay in his room. He smiled when he realized it was a Rory day in the library today.

Luke wandered into the library. "I finished the Art of War," he told Rory. "Do you have any other suggestions?"

"Did you like it?" Rory asked.

The bundle in her arms squirmed a little.

Rory smiled a little when she looked up and saw him. "Hey, John. How are things?"

"Things are things," he said and leaned against the counter. "What's up in the library today? Any forts?"

"Sadly no," she replied. "There's definitely not a puppy here, though."

"Vladdie's not here?" John grinned. "What's he not doing here?"

"He's not chewing on my shoe," she said.

There was a wee yip from under the desk and she shushed the nonexistant dog under there.

"Can I not see him?" John asked.

"Of course!" she said, motioning John behind the desk. Vladdie was hovering midair under the desk, pawing at nothing.

John moved around the desk and saw the little hovering dog.

"Vladdie! Nice to not see you!"

Luke smiled at the bundle. "It was fascinating," he said. "It took me a while to get through the whole thing, though."

Vladdie yipped a greeting back. "He's not here because he wasn't really clingy when I woke up this morning. I don't blame Angel's visit."

"It's a bit of a heavy read," she agreed. "Do you think it'll help, though?"

"Everyone's allowed to be clingy," John said with a nod. "Even itty bitty dogs."

"It's gotten me to think a little more tactically, so that's got to be a good thing," he said, leaning up against the desk. "Hope he hasn't read it, too."
