Hunting 101 - Class 8 (Wednesday period 7)

As was becoming usual, when the students entered the Danger Shop, they found John leaning against the Impala. This time it was parked on the side of a road just outside some woods.



"Welcome to Anderson Woods," he greeted them. "In the past few months there had been a number of deaths due to animal attacks. The latest victim is a teenage girl named Scarlet Rider. She was attacked last night while visiting her grandmother. Her grandmother is also missing and is being considered another victim. A hunter -- of the regular kind --" John grinned, "happened along in time to save Scarlet. He confirmed that it was a wolf that's the attacker. The girl's story is being dismissed as the result of shock and loss of blood. She's stated that the wolf was in her grandmother's cottage and spoke to her before attacking. Crazy, right?" he asked with another grin.

"Your assignment is to track down whatever is attacking people and stopping them. As well preventing any new... attackers. Remember, sometimes these things can be passed on. I suggest you might want to deal with the latter part first. You'll have plenty of light to hunt the forest after dark." John grinned again, this time wolfishly. "It's a full moon tonight.

"As always if you have any questions, ask them. And Belthazar? I'd like to speak to you after class."

"No, I don't think there would be either. I have way too much practice in dealing with Dean and his pranks, and as much as I'd try to resist getting you back, that sort of thing is ingrained in me."

"Yeah, so no pranks for us," she decided. "Unless we wanted to prank Dean and Alec, because that would be totally different."

"Now there's a smart idea," Sam replied, grinning. "That might be kind of fun."

"We can be way more annoying than they can, can't we?"

"Of course. We're the youngest siblings - we've been trained to be the most annoying we can be." Sam laughed.

"And they trained us, so really, they deserve whatever they get," Dawn giggled, then remembered they were in class. "I guess I should go hunt shapeshifters, huh?"

Sam nodded. "Yeah. Do you want to try it by yourself, or would you like a partner?"

"I wouldn't mind a partner." Besides, it was probably good to see what they could do together, purely from a pre-invasion perspective.

"Great!" Sam smiled broadly at her and grabbed the last of his supplies. "You ready?"

"Uh huh," she said, suddenly afraid she was going to trip over a rock and shoot Sam, or do something equally lame.

Sam noticed her seeming a little more nervous, and reached over to give her hand a quick squeeze. "I'm glad we finally have a chance to partner up."

She squeezed his hand back and told herself to stop being stupid. "Me too. And not just because you already did most of these for real."

Sam gave her a reassuring smile. "You're going to do great, just watch."
