Hunting 101 - Class 8 (Wednesday period 7)

As was becoming usual, when the students entered the Danger Shop, they found John leaning against the Impala. This time it was parked on the side of a road just outside some woods.



"Welcome to Anderson Woods," he greeted them. "In the past few months there had been a number of deaths due to animal attacks. The latest victim is a teenage girl named Scarlet Rider. She was attacked last night while visiting her grandmother. Her grandmother is also missing and is being considered another victim. A hunter -- of the regular kind --" John grinned, "happened along in time to save Scarlet. He confirmed that it was a wolf that's the attacker. The girl's story is being dismissed as the result of shock and loss of blood. She's stated that the wolf was in her grandmother's cottage and spoke to her before attacking. Crazy, right?" he asked with another grin.

"Your assignment is to track down whatever is attacking people and stopping them. As well preventing any new... attackers. Remember, sometimes these things can be passed on. I suggest you might want to deal with the latter part first. You'll have plenty of light to hunt the forest after dark." John grinned again, this time wolfishly. "It's a full moon tonight.

"As always if you have any questions, ask them. And Belthazar? I'd like to speak to you after class."

You can work solo, in pairs or groups, John's leaving it up to you. As usual, the trunk of the Impala is fully stocked with weapons and other things you may need.

Pip started to load a gun with silver bullets. "Looking for a partner?"

As usual, Pete decided the answer was guns. Lots and lots and lots of guns.

He might get so distracted by checking over said guns as to not quite actually get to the assignment, in fact.

Something that involved protecting people from getting attacked? Yeah, this was right up Conner's alley and made him feel almost like it was like the good old days. Except for the whole 'werewolf' bit, which was a bit different.

He was, as usual, still wary around guns, and opted for a crossbow with silver-tipped quarrels instead. But after the ghost-hunting experience with Peter, he thought (no offense to Peter) that it might be a good idea to team up with someone who wasn't wary of guns.

Oh look, there was Pete. With lots of guns. Except . . .

"Dude, shouldn't your ammo be a little shinier than that?"

Sam had spent a seriously inappropriate amount of time in the shower, and still had writing all over his arms and his head. Luckily, his arms were easy enough to cover, and the gel he hadn't managed to get out of his hair helped him comb some of it over his forehead. Still, he was looking at the Impala and wondering if his dad would notice if he hid inside it for the class period.

John raised an eyebrow when he caught sight of his son. "Interesting fashion choices," he commented.

"What happened?" Dawn hadn't wanted to ask about the lengthy time in the shower. According to Andrew, guys just did that sometimes. "That's some serious gel action."

She gathered a bow and some silver-tipped arrows and started digging through the trunk of the Impala looking for a tranq gun.

Phoebe flinched away from the guns with a pale face and reached for any blades that she could find and carry.

Bel walked in behind Pip. Oh yeah, they didn't look conspicuous at all. He checked out the bed in the room to see what condition the victim appeared to be in.

Man, explaining this was starting to feel really silly, but with any luck he wouldn't get stuck with any makeup work that was going to be more excruciating than what he was going to have to do for missing Wilson's test. "Sorry about missing last week," Conner said to John after class was over. "I was in a comic book at the time. Am I going to need to do any makeup work?"
