"Did Phoebe's family give you a hard time?" she asked, concerned. "Or was it something else? You said something about being in a fight?"

"Well, Phoebe's sister threw me into a wall," Bel said. "But...yeah, my foster father showed up. Tried to take me back to the Underworld."

"Oh damnit. That means they know you're alive now." Isabel bit her lip, "What are you going to do? Is there anything I can do?"

"The school sent him an invite because he was still my guardian on record," Bel explained. "He wasn't happy to find out I was still alive. Fortunately Phale and Dr. Wilson chased him off before he could take me. He said it's not over yet. I'm not sure what I'm going to do."

"I am so intercepting the mail next year," she muttered. "First things first, don't go anywhere alone. Warn Phoebe and anyone else you're close to to keep their eyes open. Beyond that, maybe talk to the admins? Maybe they have a way to protect you?" Isabel sighed realizing that this was the second time in less then a week she'd had the same conversation.

"I don't know if the admins can do anything," Bel said. "I mean, technically he's my father, and he can do whatever he wants to me."

"Then we'll find you a lawyer and get you emancipated. It's what my dad did for Michael when his foster father was beating the hell out of him," Isabel said. "Once that happens, then they should be able to do plenty."

"They wouldn't recognize that in the Underworld," Bel said, looking down. "It wouldn't change anything. They'll always have a claim on me. Always."

She frowned, recognizing flaws in the plan. "What claim? Just because they say so?"

"The Brotherhood serves the Source for life," Bel said. "I don't know if there's anywhere I can run that they won't find me. They won't just get bored and give up. I was safe when they thought I was dead, but now...."

"But now...They know you're not." Isabel reached across the table to squeeze his arm gently. "I'm drawing a blank right now but I'll keep thinking. There has to be something that can be done."

Bel nodded, patting her hand on his arm. "I hope so. I don't want to go back to that life."

"If you even think about it, you know I'm going to have to kick your ass," Isabel said, nodding seriously.

Bel smiled a little. "There's a line of Halliwells and Winchesters you'll have to get through first," he said. "Among others."

"Nope, we're going to set up the line alphabetically. Evans would come before Halliwell and Winchester. So I'm up first." Isabel walked around the counter to stand next to Bel. "I sorry I don't have any answers. Can I offer a hug instead? It's the best I can do at the moment."

"That's just as good," Bel said, holding out his arms. "But be gentle with me."

Isabel hugged him very carefully. "If Max hadn't immediately gone off the deep end I would have asked him to fix that for you. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance, what with the yelling and the storming off."

"It's okay, I heal fast," Bel said, hugging her back. "Just gotta take it easy for a few days. No getting thrown into walls, no getting hit by lightning bolts."

"I don't know, is that actually possible?" Isabel asked, stepping back and smiling at him. "Because you haven't been having the best time of it lately. Maybe if I lock you in your room?"

"You forget, I can shimmer out," Bel said, grinning.

"But you wouldn't. Because then I would be sad. You wouldn't want me to be sad would you?" Isabel asked, pouting just a bit.

"Not the pout again!" Bel protested.

"It's my secret weapon," she chuckled. "Who needs alien fu?"

"It's deadly," Bel said solemnly. "It should be registered with the school."

"I'll keep that in mind the next time the Mountie is doing a weapons check," Isabel grinned.
