"The library and I aren't the best of friends," Cameron said sheepishly as he pulled the magazine out of his bag. "I can offer it some sort of sacrifice?"

Isabel took the magazine and checked it back in. "Pay your fine of ~~handwavey~~ dollars, and you'll be fine. It's only after the semester ends that you'll have to worry about your future first born."

"I'll make sure to have an emergency plan in place just in case," Cameron promised as he dug out his wallet and paid Isabel. "Hey, how was your weekend?"

She dropped the money into the desk drawer and then rested her arms on the counter. "Honestly? I would have rather had zombies. My brother came to town."

"I take it he wasn't too impressed?" Cameron asked.

"He was actually coping pretty well," Isabel said. "Until Bel let slip that everyone here knew what I was. Then he pretty much blew a gasket right in the middle of Caritas and ordered me home."

Cameron frowned. "Did he actually look around? It's not like you're the only alien here."

"He thinks it's dangerous here," Isabel explained, rolling her eyes. "Something about zombies, mummies and Jello dragons, I don't get it. But he also thinks I'm in danger from the aliens that would like to see us dead. He doesn't get that I have a small but very competent army at my back if I need it." She snickered, "I never did tell him that I actually went on a rescue mission to another planet last week."

"I heard something about that," Cameron tilted his head, regaring her. "I think he really doesn't understand what this place is then. Which I get, it took you a while to trust people here too. Just promise me you're not going to listen to him?"

"No, he doesn't. I think he thinks we're all crazy." She shrugged, "His loss. But I'm not going anywhere. We finally worked it out yesterday. I think he realized that if he dragged me home I would make his life absolute hell."

"As sisters can do so well," he teased lightly. "I'm glad you figured it out, I'd hate to see you leave. Especially for such a stupid reason. He'll deal."

"Thanks," she smiled. "How about you? Any of your family swing by the asylum for a visit?"

"No," he chuckled. "My parents have no clue what this place is like. I prefer keeping it that way. I might have to head down Memphis soon anyway to set up those tests for the academy."

"Same here. I was actually glad they had to cancel at the last minute. Dealing with Max was bad enough." Isabel smiled, "That's still going okay then? The whole admission process? Good for you."

"Plus, you wouldn't want them to get back up from Max if they didn't like it here either," he pointed out and smiled. "Yep. I've been keeping up with training. I think I've just been a bit nervous about getting a definite date on the tests, you know? I keep thinking that one more week longer and I'll be in even better shape."

"True. And I couldn't tell them all the reasons I wanted to stay without telling them the truth about us. Which honestly I don't think would be such a bad thing," she sighed. "But Max has other ideas." Isabel reached across the counter to pat his arm. "You're going to do fine. You're in great shape. I mean, you've been training for this for how long?"

"They're your parents. They know who you are, regardless of what planet you're really from. They'd still love you even if it might take them a bit longer than the students here to get used to the idea," Cameron replied. "I'm sorry he doesn't recognise that."

He grinned at her question. "My whole life?"

"I know that, and I think Max even knows that. It's more that he worries that if they did know the truth, they'd want to help and that would them in danger," Isabel explained. "And in a way, he is kind of right."

She laughed, "I figured it was something like that. When you were a little kid did you run around pretending you were a plane?"

"Yeah, I guess I can see that," he agreed with a sigh. "Too bad not every place is like Fandom."

Cameron laughed and glanced away. "Possibly."

"Tell me about it. I'm enjoying that fact that I have more then a year left." She sighed, "Although it will suck when the seniors graduate this May."

"I knew it. And you probably made all the appropriate sound effects to."

"Yeah, I'll miss this place," Cameron agreed with a sigh.

"Hey! No point in doing something only half way!"

"Of course not," Isabel grinned.

"So you're sure I can't interest you in another magazine? The November issues are starting to arrive."

"Yeah, I'm sure," he nodded. "It's making a bit impatient about going to visit Veronica," he said honestly.

"When's your next trip?" she asked.

"I don't know yet," he said with a shrug. "She's been pretty busy with college. Hopefully not too long." He paused as he remembered their last conversation. "Speaking of trips, did you and Greg manage to go camping or did that get cancelled?"
