The Fandom High Tour! Saturday afternoon

At 1:00, The Tick was standing outside the school doors, waiting for any family or friends who may show up. Once they had a good group and it didn't seem like anyone else was coming, Tick said, "Well, I think that's everyone! Hello, and welcome to Fandom High! I am The Tick, Dean of Students here, and I will be your Virgil as we descend into the Seven Circles that we call school!"

The Tick thought for a moment. "Not that I'm suggesting that this school is the underworld. I was really just going with the concept of the Guide character in classic literature. Anyway, let's head on in! And if you have any questions, please ask!"

[OOC: After I get all of the OCD up, I'll be heading to work for a few hours. I shall be slow, but available to have Tick answer any questions.

This is a half-play post, half-linkdrop. Teachers who are not specifically linked to in the OCD, if you could post a link to your classroom or office post in the Classrooms OOC thread, that would be appreciated. Parents can break away from the tour to talk to those any teachers. The tour will go slowly enough to not lose people.

Parents, you can ping in wherever you might have something specific to comment on, or wherever you might talk to someone about something. Considering how many threads there are, though, and how many people may be in here, I wouldn't mind if comments that just check into the room thread are left out for the sakes of everyone's browsers.

There is also a general mingling in the dorm lobby thread if anyone wants to end the tour in another big group meeting. :) ]

Parker snickered. "And did I thank you for however you acted toward Daddy? He didn't mention you, so he must not have disapproved. And I really, really have to meet Max before he leaves. Possibly kick him, hard. Accidentally."

Jack rolled his eyes. "Parker, you would have been proud of me. I called him sir, I was meek and respectful, in an awed tone of voice I told him how seriously his daughter took her responsibilities and that it was an honour to meet him. I felt like I needed a shower afterwards." Jack shuddered, then brightened. "You can come to Caritas tonight, watch me make him flail. It's much more fun than kicking him."

"Perfect," Parker said in satisfaction. "With that kind of behavior, even if he asks if we dated, he can't possibly object. I try to avoid lying to Daddy when I don't have to. Keeps things simpler." She smirked. "And flailing? There was flailing? Then I definitely have to go along."

"Is it something he's likely to ask?" Jack moved a bit closer and looked at her intently. "And are you holding up okay?"

"Of course it's likely. He'll want to make sure I'm not dating anyone unsuitable." She looked away, her expression blank. "And I'm fine. Dinner went... well."

Jack really didn't want to push her when she looked like that, so he smiled neutrally and asked, "Just well?"

Parker debated mentioning the phone call, then pushed that aside. "We talked about where I'm going to college. It's still up for debate. And the classes I'm taking. He doesn't see the point of the Music class. It's just a little stressful. But I can handle him. It'll be fine."

"Okay." Jack's hand hovered in the air briefly before he let it fall, pretty sure that - right now - his touch wouldn't be welcome. "If there's anything I can do..."

Parker nodded, tightly. "Thanks, Jack. But really. It's okay." She let out a slow breath. "Sydney's good at running interference, when it comes down to it." She shook her head. "So. anything else I've missed in my tunnel-vision this weekend?"

Watching her, he made a snap decision not to tell her about Sam. Much as he wanted to, he wasn't willing to stress her any further. "Not a lot. I've mostly been in hiding since Thursday night, avoiding the parental types and the associated flailing. I owe Cedric a song, so I'll be singing at Caritas tonight, which should be entertaining."

"Maybe I'll stop by tonight, you know I like that. Of course, I may not be able to." She frowned. "I'd probably have to take Daddy into D.C. for another dinner, since we've already been to Cafe Fina, and he wasn't all that impressed."

"I get the feeling not much impresses your father," Jack muttered under his breath. "If you can, you can, if you can't, you can't. It's no big deal, Parker. But come Monday night, you and me are hitting Caritas, I'm buying you several large drinks," he grinned and shook his finger at her, "and I don't want to hear any arguements to the contrary."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker laughed, a little high-strung, but genuine all the same. "That sounds -- fairly awesome, actually. Unless we can't wait that long, and do it Sunday night." She let out a breath. "At least none of my teachers will say I'm doing badly. And, I'm still looking forward to meeting Zero's parents. And watching her freak if I look even mildly flirtatiously at her dad."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're amazing, Parker. Anyone here will confirm that." He very lightly brushed his fingers across the back of her hand, then snickered. "Do you think Zero'd freak out more or less if I looked mildly flirtatiously at her dad?"

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Distracted, Parker tilted her head, and said, "You know, I have no idea? But if you look flirtatiously at her mom, you might get hit. Nikki got arrested for assault on a police officer a few times, and, well. She's Zero's mom. Draw your own conclusions."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, okay, let's wipe flirting with parents off the list of weekend activities. I don't fancy explaining any black eyes to either of the thingies." He used the word deliberately, in the hopes it would make her smile.

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker giggled again, sounding less stressed. "Good call. So. What do you think of Sydney?" She tipped the psychiatrist a wink from where he was examining the telescope, and he shook his head at her, looking amused.

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Intriguing," Jack flashed Sydney a wicked smile before turning back to Parker and saying seriously, "but you never told me he was so sexy."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's eyes widened in horror and amusement. "Because he's not!"

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack tsked. "Poor Sydney. Parker, that's not nice. Sydney's a very attractive man."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker spluttered, torn between hilarity and outrage. "He's-- he's Sydney. He's presentable, and okay, I guess not unattractive, and he dresses well, sure. And okay. Accent. But, no, Jack! No no no!"

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Awwww." Jack pouted - actually pouted - at her. "You're just too close to see it."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Unnerved, Parker said, "And I don't want to change that. Really. Seriously. You can have this conversation with *anyone* else, Jack." She paused, thinking of Jarod's reaction. Her smiled widened. "Anyone."

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack dropped the pout and grinned wickedly, pretty sure who she had in mind. "Anyone? Like maybe with a certain person who isn't here at the moment?"

Re: The Observatory

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Deeeefinitely," Parker cooed, looking delighted. "Should you ever hear from him or see him again-- unlikely as that is-- feel free to ask him his opinion on the subject. Heh."
