Student Council [lunch]

Josh had his feet propped up on his desk when the members of the student council began arriving.

"I know you have more important things to worry about right now than this meeting," he began. "Did I clean my room enough? Have my parents brought embarrassing photographs of me that they will share with absolutely everyone? Will my teachers say nice things about me?" Josh grinned. "On that last one, let me put it out there that I am extremely bribable."

He waved his hand towards the pizza in the back. "Let's make this a quick meeting so you can get back to your guests or hiding in your rooms."

"Well, a traditional American Thanksgiving meal might be nice for that holiday," Marie said. "But, yeah, for the winter something that encompasses all beliefs would work."

"Only perhaps not as depressing as Festivus during the summer?" Peter suggested. "We could have a general winter holiday where people could call it what they will and eat all holiday foods."

"Exactly," Marie nodded. "Something that will let people celebrate how they're used to celebrating but maybe people can learn about each other's traditions as well?"

"Which is much easier to do when there's good food involved," Peter grinned. "You have your American Thanksgiving in November, right? Then we could do the winter holiday around Christmas maybe, but not on the day. On the Solstice perhaps?" He paused thinking. "Do we have funding as Student Council? Perhaps we could make sure everyone has a present?"

Marie grinned. "That's a great idea. I don't know what kind of budget we get, but maybe some of the stores in town would either donate some items or give us a discount."

"Mr. Blackadder?" Peter replied, chuckling. "Maybe if we talk the other man there into it. Course then we'd end up giving everyone turnip candy."

"Well, I was thinking more along the lines of the record store and the bookstore," Marie said. "And maybe someone can talk to whoever's in charge of Stuff for Sale to see what they'll be carrying in December."

"Oh, that is a good idea," Peter agreed with a nod.
