Student Council [lunch]

Josh had his feet propped up on his desk when the members of the student council began arriving.

"I know you have more important things to worry about right now than this meeting," he began. "Did I clean my room enough? Have my parents brought embarrassing photographs of me that they will share with absolutely everyone? Will my teachers say nice things about me?" Josh grinned. "On that last one, let me put it out there that I am extremely bribable."

He waved his hand towards the pizza in the back. "Let's make this a quick meeting so you can get back to your guests or hiding in your rooms."

"Nope," he replied. "Do you know anyway just to speed up time?"

"There's always just drinking ourselves into a stupor," she pointed out. "Enough alcohol now and we won't wake till Sunday night. Who's visiting you?"

Peter chuckled. "Somehow I think that would just make it worse eventually." He put his head in his hands. "My brother. It was a total shock that he came, and the worst part is that if you'd asked me about the possibility? I would have been thrilled to have him here. What about you?"

"My brother," Isabel sighed, dropping her head back to stare at the sky. "Unfortunately I'm not exactly thrilled that he's coming."

"On the positive side," Peter pointed out. "Perhaps our visits will be exactly opposite in that you aren't thrilled about it, but it'll turn out well? Does he not approve of the school?"

"It's more that Max doesn't like anyone knowing about the alien thing," she explained. "And I never told him about everyone here at school knowing the truth. I'm hoping to get through the weekend without anyone saying anything."

Peter nodded. "I see. I certainly wouldn't mention it if I happen to run into him."

"Thanks, I appreciate it," Isabel smiled. "Fortunately he does know about the weirdness. So I'm hoping to just keep him distracted by that for the weekend."

"You could entice a gremlin to bite him," Peter sugguested with a grin.

"That is a very good idea. If I get desperate enough, I might have to try and find one." Sadly she was only half joking.

"Has anyone ever discovered how to lure them?" Peter asked, smiling at the thought and very posibly considering Edmund in th emix.

"No, but the seem to like hiding in dark spaces. I might have to have Max just happen to get something from under my bed," Isabel laughed.

"Horrible," Peter teased, shaking his head. He grew a bit more solemn. "Are you worried about him meeting Greg?"

Isabel zoned for just a moment, a small smile on her face. "Oh no," she said, shaking her head. "Greg might act like a goof, but he wouldn't mess that up for me. He knows it's too important. But there's everyone else on the island. All I'd need is for someone to make a comment about me changing their hair color and it's all over."

Peter covered a smile at Isabel's zone-out. "I don't think it'll happen. Everyone here knows that our family's aren't necessarily versed on oddities."

"That's true, but remember, I'm an alien. That sort of falls under the oddities umbrella," Isabel pointed out. "Someone might mention something to Max thinking it's not that big a deal." Shrugging helplessly, she forced a laugh, "Well at least it'll be amusing to watch his head explode."

"Not that funny," Peter replied ruefully.

"This weekend? I'll take my laughs where I can. Parker and I were talking about having a small party with chocolate and chick flicks to celebrate surviving the weekend. Now I'm thinking it might have to be something larger," she said.

Peter grinned. "I think you're right. There should be a massive part at the end of this weekend."

"Sunday night? One of the common rooms? I wonder if we can get StuCo funds to pay for food and drink." Isabel looked seriously cheered by the prospect.

"Can't hurt to ask," Peter pointed out. "Even if we can't, we seriously need to do this."

"Oh I'll be there, funds or not. But funds would, be nice. And it won't hurt to ask," she said turning towards Josh.
