Friday, October 20, Second Period

The room is in the same arrangement as last week, with pairs of comfortable chairs divided by small tables. Except that each table holds several items: a deck of tarot cards, a crystal ball, and an astrology chart.

"Today I'm giving all of you a choice of exercises, but I'd like you to choose one that you haven't had a chance to try yet. If during the cartomancy or chrystallomancy lab, your partner did a reading but you didn't, for instance. Or if you haven't yet had the opportunity to do your homework assignment from Monday's class, you have the option today of doing a chart for your partner. If you've done all three of these exercises already, then I am offering you the opportunity to choose a method of divination and request permission to give it a try. The following, however, are off limits as we will be covering them in future labs: Arithmancy, I Ching, Bibliomancy, Tea Reading, Onomancy, Graphology, and Rune Casting.

"Also, don't forget to turn in the essays assigned to you last week."

Bel opted to politely abstain from any readings on himself. They all were bad, anyway.

"Bel!" Blair bounced over to sit across from him, speaking in a sugar-induced rush. "What's happening? How're doing? Do you need my help this weekend?"

Bel blinked at Blair's hyperness.

"I'm okay," he said with a small shrug. "I think Phoebe wants to introduce me to her family to real this time around, so I'm looking for places to hide."

"I think that's a great idea, man!" Blair bounced. "I mean, not the hiding part. The introducing part. I'm sure it'll go great. What's not to love about you?"

"Her grandmother and sister are gonna try to vanquish me," Bel said unhappily. "They're not going to go for the whole loving a demon thing."

"No way." Blair shook his head. "They can't just vanquish a student. I'm sure the school has a rule against that."

"It's Phoebe's family, man. More than anything, I'm sure they want her to be happy and you make her happy."

"They're gonna think she's out of her mind," Bel said glumly. "But, well, at least they won't be meeting any members of my family."

"The glass is always half empty for you, isn't it?" Blair asked with a bounce. "Maybe this weekend will go better than you think. Maybe they'll see how much Phoebe loves you and how much you love her and they'll be fine."

"I don't know, I've heard about her grandmother and older sister," Bel said dubiously. "Piper's one thing, but Prue's a real hardass when it comes to demons. She'd get along well with Daddy Winchester."

"Her grandma seemed nice." Blair said hopefully. "Hmm...maybe you can just distract Prue all weekend. I'm sure Mr. Winchester needs a date."

Bel snickered. "She might be a little too young for him. But then again, she might like older guys."

Marty is staring at the Crystal Ball. His eyes might be crossing.

"Hey," Marty," Joxer said, sitting down. He was wearing the suit that the Jamies had put on him yesterday. "You want to do a reading today?"

Marty rubbed his eyes and looked up at Joxer in confusion.

"Are you trying to make fun of me?" Marty said pointing at the suit.

Joxer shook his head. "I got put in this yesterday," he said. "I would've worn something else today, but they ran off with my armour."

Pippi waits for Sam.

Sam gave Pippi a little wave as he sat down. "Hey. Did you survive without me last week?" he asked, smirking softly.

Pippi smiled back.

"It was terribly dull." she said.

"Well, I'm terribly sorry," he replied. "Hopefully I won't have to get dragged away for the weekend again."

"Did you have fun at least?" Pippi said taking out her crystal ball. "And do you want to try to use the crystal ball since you were away?"

"No, I can't really say that it was a fun experience," Sam admitted. "And sure, I'll try the crystal ball. Did you have any luck with it?"

"It's my crystal ball." Pippi explained. "I generally have pretty good luck with it. There's also one that Mr. Phale provided, we can use that one instead if you want to use one that's more... Fresh?"

"Maybe we should use Mr. Phale's crystal ball," Sam agreed. "If only because I bet yours is kind of...attuned to you, maybe? And I don't want to mess with that."

"I have had it for quite some time." Pippi nodded putting hers back in it's black silk bag and wooden box.

"So... What should we ask?"
