The projector was still set up when the students entered the room.

"Good afternoon," Lorelai said after everyone had entered and was seated. "Today we're going to learn about a very popular genre of hour long television dramas, the police procedurals, legal dramas and other police and crime shows that are prevelant in the prime time lineup in recent years."

After a lecture on how those shows work and the history behind them, Lorelai turned off the lights and started the projector to show clips from some of the more popular shows.

"First up is Crime and Justice: SUV," she said. After that clip, she moved on to CFD amd Without a Trace.

She turned the lights back on after all the clips. "Any questions or comments?"

[ooc: notes on the clips - 1. The L&O (or C&J) clip deals with a sex club and thus, may not be considered work safe. 2. I couldn't find a meta name for Without A Trace on the Wiki. 3. Same as last week, the clips are the meta shows, not the actual shows. 4. These clips are a little on the longer side. You don't have to watch if you don't have time/interest.]

"And it should be noted that the technical term for the sound made during a transition on the Crime and Justice show is 'Doink-Doink'," Marty piped up from where he was nursing his coffee. "I'm sure this will be on our mid-term exam."

"You don't think it sounded more kinda like a..." Joxer trailed off for a second, thinking. "Chung-Chung?"

"I'm sorry but are you disagreeing with the expertise of your TA?" Marty said with a glare.

Joxer swallowed hard. "Yes?"

"Should you be disagreeing with your TA?"

"Ummm," Joxer fiddled with his ear for a second. "No?"

"So what does the transition sound like?"

"Doink-Doink," Joxer said reluctantly.

"But I still think it's chung-chung," he mumbled.

"What was that?" Marty asked sharply.

"I said, uhhh," Joxer fumbled for a good lie. "That this gum tastes like tongue-tongues?"

He wasn't even chewing gum.

"No gum in class," Marty said with scowl.

Joxer gulped. "No gum, definitely," he said. "It's gone now, even. None." He gave a nervous laugh.

"I found it to be more of a 'bum-bum', personally. In fact, I do not remember hearin' any k sound on the end of that noise whatsoever."

"Your hat must be imparing your hearing," Marty replied.

"Now that's just ridiculous. My hat ain't anywhere near my ears."

"Maybe it's too tight for your head," Marty suggested helpfully.

"My hat fits my head just fine. It is tight enough not to fly off when riding after a speeding locomotive, but not so much so as to in any way harm my upper brain functions. It is 'comfortably snug'."

Yeah, Pete actually did air-quotes on that.

"Yeah. Whatever you say cowboy."

"You attemptin' to make some kinda issue out of the time period from which I hail?"

"Not at all," Marty replied. "I'm just insinuatin' that your hearing isn't that good."

"There is absolutely nothin' whatsoever the matter with my hearin'. Perhaps your ought to saunter yourself on down to the clinic and see if your hearing ain't been affected, considerin' that you appear to be alone in believin' that noise was 'doink-doink' instead of 'bum-bum!'"
