School Assembly, Friday Afternoon, The Auditorium

"Hello, Fandom High students and faculty! This week's assembly comes to you out of necessity due to the cost of construction. Our speakers today have a focus on corporate sponsorship and are here to show you the good side and bad side of such sponsorship. Now if you'll give our guests your undivided attention, we can begin!"

[OOC: Same deal as last week. General conversation threads are nice and open, reactions to our guests can go in their threads after they have pinged in, and same for Q&A. Thanks to my assembly volunteers for contributing. :)

ETA: The sprinklers were set off here and will be going until shortly after a faculty member busts those responsible. Faculty members? Nail them!]

Zuko frowned. "Usually?"

"Yup."

It seemed pointless saying that this world was strange, but it was clear from his expression that he was still thinking it. "As long as they're not poisonous, I suppose."

"Hmmm, I think the closest thing we have to poisonous creatures would be the Gremlins."

"The animal on the crest?" Zuko asked. "I've yet to see a real one."

"Yes, the school used to be quite over run with them. I suppose that's why they are our mascot. But one of the previous Principals took a rather... firm stance on population control. They're still around however."

He raised an eyebrow at Pippi's choice of words. "Not firm enough then."

"I don't think the Powers that Be would let him burn down the school and salt the earth that it once stood on... As even then I doubt he'd get all of them."

"Who are the powers that be?" he asked, because when the bakery was run by a god, it was best to be aware.

"Not sure, but the Principal and the rest of the administration report to somebody, or more then one somebody... Like a School Board or something... This isn't a public school near as I can tell, so it could be just about any~~thing~~body."

"That's interesting," Zuko said slowly, wondering if siad person would be easily influenced. "It's got to be someone important if they can draw students from different worlds here."

"Important or powerful... Though the two often go together I suppose."

He nodded in agreement. "And no one's seen this person?"

"I believe it's several people... Or whatevers. I imagine the Principal has contact with them. Whoever they are. But if anybody has ever seen them, I've not heard of it."

"Strange," he looked thoughtfully at the stage, wondering what to make of that. "I wonder who they are and why they're doing this."

"If we knew that." Pippi said, "I suspect we would understand a great deal more about the universe then we do currently."

"Or at least about this school. I wouldn't be surprised if they intend to use us in a war later on," he replied.

Pippi never thought about that before, the school does tend to get attacked rather often...

"What makes you think that?"

"Why else would you draw people with fighting experience or the skills to be dangerous to fight all to one place?" he asked. "People rarely do anything without ulterior motive."

"There's lots of people here who don't fight and are perfectly normal." Pippi offered.

"Exceptions to hide the true reason behind this place," he replied, convinced that he was right about this.

"Hmmm." Pippi said not entirely convinced.

Though not entirely not convinced.

"We'll find out," Zuko said calmly. "If I'm right, they'll eventually make a move to give their true purpose away."

"I'm still not sure. If they wanted to create an army, they wouldn't have let all the Seniors graduate last year... If I was makin' an army, I'm pretty sure I woulda figured a way to keep most of those guys around."

"Unless you want to see how they fare on their own first. Test their skills so to speak," he replied.
