Criminal Justice [first period, Tuesday 10/10]

V had laid out materials for his class once again, and this week they included all sorts of pens, pencils, crayons, markers, and all manner of paper.

"Sometimes," he intoned as he began to pace, "justice cannot be exacted immediately, and instead a plan must be formulated. These plans take time and care. You must know who, if anyone, will be your allies. What materials and resources will you use? Who will you target, when and why? Your assignment today is to choose someone, real or imaginary, who has somehow wronged you or others, and formulate a plan to strike back including these variables."

V gestured expansively to the craft materials. "I understand your parents are coming to visit in a short period of time. If you'd like to be artistic and create...charts, or visual representations of your plans, I shall be displaying them for your loved ones when they come."

He nodded sharply. "Work together or separately. I shall be available for questions."

[Be as creative as you would like with this. I'll tell you right now that that artpad thing is ADDICTIVE. It's pretty self-explanatory, and I believe there's a "save and send" function on the left toolbar. Then when that window pops up, there's a function for just getting the link. If you'd like to link to whatever you draw, I'd be happy to save the links and really display them for PW.]

"Dunno, gotta figure out who to target first," Bel said, mulling over the list.

"That's part of the plan. Step one, I should say. Any ideas?"

Bel shrugged. "Some demons I know. Or maybe Logan. How about you?"

River shrugged. "I prefer not to think of those I'd really like to target. So I'd be willing to help, as long as it's not someone I like."

Yes, River was offering to team up with Bel.

Bel smirked. "You know Logan Echollls at all?"

"No. Tell me?"

This was a class after all. She wouldn't have to do this for real. And it would keep her from dwelling on bad memories.

"He's an arrogant little ass," Bel said. "Deserves whatever we can come up with for him."

Perhaps that answer wasn't as exhausting as it could be, but River decided not to question any further. This was just a class after all.

She wrote 'Target: Logan Echolls' on the paper and drew a circle around the name. "What are his strengths and weaknesses?"

"Weakness for booze," Bel said. "Strengths? I don't know. He's a smart ass. And I guess he can hold his own in a fight."

River wrote a '+' and underneath it 'weakness for booze'. Then she wrote a '-' and added 'smart ass' and 'fighting skills'.

"That's from our point of view," she explained. "The booze should decrease the smart ass ability, but it might enhance the fighting skills. Might."

"So you said he's arrogant." She added that under the heading 'charges'. "So do we want him humiliated, to make him see the errors of his ways? Or anything else?"

Bel bit his tongue to stop from saying exactly what he'd really like to do to Logan. "Humiliation is good," he said. "Wouldn't mind seeing him banged up a bit, either."

"Ok, humiliated and possibly banged up." River wrote that down. "Anything else." She had learnt that Bel did not like to be mind read, but that gave him another opportunity to share what was really on his mind.

Bel shrugged, imagining all sorts of nasty tortures for Logan. "Nah, that should do for now," he said.

River nodded. "So. Is this a secret thing? Do we want him to know we did it? Do we want others to know? How do we deal with the possibility of revenge?"

Bel pondered this. "I'd love him to know that I did it, but not be able to prove it," he said. "Think you can make that work?"

River thought for a moment. "There's a lack of information. He's a smart ass. We want to humiliate him and beat him up. He might feel humiliated by his smart assness being questioned in public. But I need to know more here. The physical violence part is a lot easier."

"Well, there's always that," Bel said. "Could just beat him up. Again."

"Too easy," River decided. "What does Logan really care about?"

"Himself," Bel said.

River thought for a moment. "So where does he live? What does he do?"

"LA," Bel said. "And I don't know what the hell he does these days."

"We need to find out," River said, making more notes. "So he cares about himself. Does that include caring about his appearance?"

"Yeah, I guess," Bel said. "This is getting way too complicated. I'll just draw setting him on fire and that's that."

River frowned. "No, we're making a diagram. And I need something to do." She added more notes. "I disable his fire alarm. You set his flat on fire. He is burnt and horribly maimed. That will be humiliating and painful." She looked at Bel. "Can you control the fire? And does he know you can set things on fire?"

"Oh yeah, he knows," Bel said. "I can control it when I summon it, not so much when it's out of my hands."
